Great show but lack of communication from organisers

Visited this spectacular show and can honestly say it was the best night out I have ever had in France. The show started at 10.30 and for the next couple of hours we were... read more

I loved this show. I didn't understand a word of it, as it is in French of course, but I don't think the lack of understanding diminished the experience at all as it is so visual. We chose to include dinner, and were expertly waited on my volunteering children. First course was half a rockmelon (cantaloupe) filled with wine. As... More

We attended this "spectacle" three years ago. It set a high standard then and it hasn't diminished under a new director/writer/producer. Still a genuinely worthwhile event to visit. The setting, the story, the 400 actors, animals, lighting, sound, explosions and fireworks haven't been bettered by anything else we have seen anywhere else in the world. This production emphasises the history... More

This reenactment which is run every year is well worth a trip to Castillon. It is largely put on by volunteers and is fabulous. The commentary is entirely in French and therefore I suggest that if you don't understand French you bring someone along who does as without the story it may be less amazing!

The re-enactment of this battle is something you should not miss, it is fantastastc. With a cast of 500 people, plus cows oxen, sheep, chickens, goats, horses, ducks and geese, and even a fish, the story of the battle unfolds. The French won and brought the Hundred Years' War to an end however they cheated, and Talbot, the leader of... More

This performance is something you should not miss. No review can possibly encompas the scope of this performance. No only does it present a vivid picture of an important historical event, the end of the 100 years war, but provide a unique insight into the life in rural France. The performance brings on stage all the animals which one would... More

Second time with our grandchildren but they were 3 and 5 years old before and they loved it then. Now they are 6 and 8 years and absolutely loved it again, as we did. It is difficult to describe the scene but it is set in a field on the side of a hill with a chateau at the top.... More

this was, by far, one of the most amazing outdoor spectaculars i've been to... not that it had lots of money thrown at it - but it is a total must see.... over 1000 cast (mostly villagers taking part on a volunteer basis - but with some actors in - 100 horses, pigs, geese, oxen... totally amazing - just LOVED... We paid 131 euros to take grandchildren 19 July, it was cancelled, we have visited the office for a refund twice, the second time they took the tickets off us and said we would get refund in a day or two. We have emailed but no response, we paid by debit card. Big mistake, they should have credited out account... More

Visited this spectacular show and can honestly say it was the best night out I have ever had in France. The show started at 10.30 and for the next couple of hours we were completely enthralled. Would recommend it to anyone and for 23 euros each an absolute bargain. Did not have the meal at 17 euros but it looked... More
