Tempting providence- recommended
Jul. 2021
Really enjoyed Tempting Providence. The new theatre is beautiful. I was advise against buying tickets in row E. There is no elevation between row D and E , unlike all the other rows. My view was obstructed by the patrons in the row in front of me.

we never tire of these plays
Jul. 2019
My husband and I have visited Newfoundland for many years now and we always take in a play. The great thing about the plays are that they are Newfoundland themed. We have enjoyed Neddy Norris Night many times with its songs and short stories. Tempting Providence tells the story of Nurse Myra Bennett (you can visit her home/museum in Daniel's Harbor). The Double Axe Murders murder weapon is right there for you to see in the Dr. Henry Payne museum in Cow Head. You can't go wrong with the dinner theater the S S Ethie. The food is excellent traditional Newfoundland fare and the remains of the shipwreck can be seen via a pull off on the Viking Trail. Don't miss out on seeing these very professionally acted plays.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to give a thumbs up to the Gros Morne Theatre Festival plays. Our 2020 ((25th anniversary!!!) season is online. With the current extraordinarily difficult situation we, the world over, are facing, TNL is anticipating delays in our season opening, but please know you can continue to make your plans to see our shows in Cow Head (in our brand new Nurse Myra Bennett Centre for the Performing Arts!) and if your chosen performance is cancelled or you decide you cannot travel at that time, you can receive a full refund. We look forward to seeing you this summer too. Stay safe! Gaylene

Fantastic Play
Sep. 2019
The theatre was running a play "Our Living Father" a one man play, excellently acted, about the life of the first premier of Newfoundland, Joey Smallwood, a person we were quite interested in. If it is performed elsewhere in the province we recommended viewing the production. Congratulations to Theatre Newfoundland. The theatre is steps away from the Shallow Bay Motel. All tickets and prepayment is made on line. Tickets are picked up at the box office prior to the performance.

Thank you so much for coming to see us in Cow Head! I'm so happy you enjoyed our Only Living Father production! We're putting the final touches on our 2020 season and plans are to have Joey back on stage for a part of the season next year as well. Again thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! The Gros Morne Theatre in Cow Head --Shallow Bay Motel
Aug. 2019
We went to: Neddy Norris Night at the Shallow Bay motel. Many parallel tables set up for after dinner drinks if you wish. Live entertainment of songs, songs and more songs ( with instruments too). All Newfoundland tunes old and new. Music and more music. A lively atmosphere. Very entertaining. A very good group of 4 performed. Makes a very good evening for all.

Great fun for the whole family!

My husband, 10-year old son and I attended the S.S. Ethie show and loved it! It’s a unique dinner show experience with a delicious cod dinner (chicken nuggets for our child). We all enjoyed learning about local history, feeling the drama of the story and having a few laughs throughout.

Enjoyable Dinner Theatre
Aug. 2019
My wife and I attended the dinner theatre production of SS Ethie. The dinner part was good - serving all of the patrons in a short time, with the actors performing wait staff duties, was quite remarkable. The food was good (pan fried cod, potatoes, veggies, and cheesecake for dessert). The stage production was well rehearsed, but some of the actors failed to project their voices adequately. And I thought the screaming director was a bit over the top.........

My wife then attended the Tempting Providence play in the adjacent theatre, and said it was an excellent production. I had already seen this play and did not attend with her.

It was a good diversion from driving the roads in Gros Morne, and I would recommend travellers take in one or more of the productions.

Wonderful Surprise and Great Theatre
Jul. 2019 • Couples
Someone in our travel group suggested we go to TNL one night. We really like theatre and are season subscribers to 4 places in the U.S.

The production was interesting and very well done. We are glad that we gave this a try. This was theatre only -- no dinner involved. Worth a couple of hours at the end of the day.

First class theatre at the Warehouse : not to be missed.
Jul. 2019 • Couples
Can't say enough about this Theatre group . We were lucky enough to enjoy 3 of their performances, S.S. Ethie, Tempting Providence, and 17 Men. First class acting in plays about the local history, shipwreck of the SS Ethie, nurse Myra Bennett of Daniels Harbour, and 17 men's experience during the war. Emotional, empathetic, well-written and superbly acted. A must see.
