The Counvent La Tourette is an amazing place to stay and to visit. To stay there you have to book in advance, at least two weeks. It's a place where find some silence, peace and a wonderful immersion in a beautiful landscape all around. You have to arruve by car, it's better then with public transport. The place is a... More

From all the other famously-visited Le Corb's work, I personally think this is the best low-profile building ever. My favourite in France (out of others like unite d'habitation, Villa savoye etc). Contrary to most information online that the place is hard to access, it is in fact very easy for people who prefer walking, like me. Take the train from... More

My husband and I, both architects and admirers of Le Corbusier, were anxious to stop by Couvent Sainte-Marie de la Tourette on our trip to Paris from Provence. It was a quick jaunt through Lyon and a few questions about whether our GPS was taking us to the right place. This trip is one of the reasons we specifically rented... More

30 minutes outside Lyon, this priory (not a convent, as one of the galavanteers incorrectly identified it) was designed by the famous architect Le Corbusier and will appeal to both architecture enthusiasts and those searching for places of spiritual engagement. Tours are not exactly convenient (during non-peak season times, tours may happen only once a week or not at all)... More

Firstly, I am not sure about payment for the visit, as it was a field trip, but I did not notice any payments processed, so, I am still not sure if my tick on "no payment" in this review is fully truthful ) We visited it as a part of our field trip to Lyon, so we travelled out to... More

We went there on a whim when driving to Lyon, we saw a sign by the highway that said there was a convent built by Le Corbusier. We researched it a bit on internet because we couldn't find any signage. No need to book the guide. It was an architecture student who was doing it as a summer job (seems... More

As one would expect, the rooms and facilities are basic. After all you are staying in a cell. But it is one of the most memorable places to stay and recommendable to anyone with an interest in modern architecture and/or Le Corbusier. Do go and attend a mass and book the architectural tour. It is well worth it and part... More

The Dominican Monastery of La Tourette is really worth a visit for architects and those people who appreciate modern architecture or the work of Le Corbusier. It's very easy to get there via public transportation with the Roanne train from Lyon to L'Arbresle station (takes about 30 minutes). From there you can walk or take a taxi. We chose to... More
