The drift ice museum consists of some exhibits, live sea creatures as well as movie theatre. But the most memorable was the ice room. Mimicking the temperature on the drift ice of - 15 degrees, you get to wear a coat and bring in a wet towel. After swinging it round 30 times, ice starts forming on the towel! Really cool!!

Visited Okhotsk Sea Ice Museum to watch a 3D movie showing the 4 seasons of Hokkaido. Then we went into a -20’C area when we saw local fishes crabs and flowers frozen in blocks of ice. We were given a wet towel and we swing it around until it became frozen hard. An attendant blew soap bubbles which solidified in mid air and land in our jackets. We took photos with a polar bear and seal there. Must visit.

The best attraction in this little town, quite amateurish museum but the freezer room is worth the trip alone!

The sea ice museum was definitely one of the more interesting attractions as it is one of the few places i know to have a sub zero temperature simulation room. Witnessed various specimens being encased in ice and kept in the room. The only thing is that most of the science exhibits were in Japanese and we could not understand them.
