Is better you have your own transport. More convenient. With it, you can cover more attractive area, in monbetsu. Such as, Okhotsk Tower, Garinkogo, Sea ice Museum, 10m tall crab claw sculpture (next to sea ice museum). Perhaps, you can rent a car there. Try Nippon rent a car .
We rent a car from Asahikawa. Drive all the way thru monbetsu. Quite fun..
