The town of Cobalt is nice and the people are friendly, but some of the smaller places don't have much updated information on their websites (if they have them). We missed this museum, when we went through on a Tuesday, because it was closed. That was too bad, because the mining history of the town was the reason for our visit.

Great tour and museum! The museum is just a treasure trove of interesting information, photographs and rocks/items. Kept our 14 and 10 year olds interested. We enjoyed the mine tour immensely. Well worth the visit!

Enjoyed the new exhibits and renovations, very much. So much to see and learn - from jaw-dropping mineral specimens, historic paintings and photography, and artifacts of the day-to-day life that was Cobalt in its rough and ready early years.

I hadn't been back to Cobalt since my childhood days in the 50's.This museum has a plethora of exhibits and photographs from the early years. My grandfather arrived there from England in 1906 and I would be brought up with the mining industry in my veins.

We took a day trip to Cobalt and it seems that the Cobalt Mining Museum is the feature attraction in town. When we attended on a late August afternoon there was only one other couple in the museum..Unfortunately the tour that actually went down on the mine had stopped for the season a few days before our visit which I think would have been the highlight of visiting the museum. So if you go, try to go before late August. I will say that the gentleman working the front desk was fantastic, very friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable, and he took ten or fifteen minutes to tell us about the history.
The museum itself is about four good sized rooms, after paying $8. each to get in, it only took us about a half hour to finish the tour. I feel it is worth visiting the museum, it is here you will understand the history of the town.

We arrived around 2:30 only to discover that the last mine tour left at 2:00. It would have been nice if this was noted on their website...we would have arrived earlier.

This is a very small museum which provides some insight into mining in the area and particularly the labour disputes in years gone by.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see this but if you are passing by. Then you might consider stopping.

The town itself is fairly lifeless, but we did have a move chat with some local ladies!

Had an informative visit to the mine with our guides Gaby and Beau, I was impressed with their knowledge of the town, the mine and the best spots to eat. Thanks so much
