When we went for a walk after checking into our Ryokan we just stumbled across this temple and saw the monk statue in the garden. If you follow the instructions on the table and wipe the monk with a cloth after wetting it with the hot spring water, it's supposed to give you a longer life :)

This temple was a short stroll from our hotel and was worth the visit. I found it peaceful and relaxing and very charming. There is a small hot footbath to relax and as it was snowing, it was lovely. When you get to Yudanaka station suggest you get a map from the tourist information room as it shows many places... More
