First we took the 15 minutes trail, which leads to the fishing holes in the ice and the snow slipway. Then we took the 50 minutes trail... More

Ohnuma Forest Park and International Seminar House are located 1.5km north of JR OhnumaKoen station; it takes about 20min walk. The seminar house is open for anyone, and there is cafe, free space or restrooms. The tourist can take a walk through a beautiful winter forest with snow shoes. We visited this beautiful National Park before left Hakodate 函館 and proceeded our 2016 Autumn leaf-viewing Trip. Ōnuma Quasi National Park 大沼国定公园happened to be one of the best serene and placid parks we’ve ever visited during the trip. See the pictures I’ve shown.

This area was the exception in a ten day trip and I wondered what it would be like in peak season. It does have picturesque charm and a network of walkways to allow access to the area. However much... More

It is about 20 min from Hakodate by JR limited express train. From the train station, it is less than 5 min walk to the starting point of the path. The shorter path take less than 20 min easy walking. You have to check your weather before going as it was too cloudy that I cannot see the mountain. There... More
