We wanted to go skiing with some guys from Australia and Singapore, and one of them suggested Hakuba / Happpo-One. We went to most resorts in the area : everything is rather old, lifts especially (which means super-slow). I certainly wouldn't go back.

Hakuba has good facilities for staying over, dining and onsens. Unlike other ski resorts in Japan, english is more common, so easy to get around. Ski lessons in English are available.

We stayed for 12 days and skied a number of the mountains close by Hakuba. None of which disappointed as there was a great mix of terrain from absolute beginners (ok a bit busy down low) to expert tree skiing. Snowed nearly every single day...More

It is nice... but it could be better. The Chair lift are old, some whitout protections and slow. There are 3 or 4 large ski park in the area but they are not connected between them.... I have seen better place for ski.....

Great for skiers, possibly not as good for snowboarders. Lots of variety and great snow, even in late March. Busy at weekend, but quiet during the week.

By far our favourite mountain, with a huge variety for intermediate to advanced skiers. Runs are quite steep and narrow compared to the neighbouring resorts which is great as less snowboarders and very few beginners.

We are doing that it again in the Dec 17 as well. Been in Happo one in Feb 17, it was the best snow field ever - Hakuba. Mind you, you are west from Tokyo, in a small town where the Olympic held back in 2008. So, only thing... More
