First time we got to see wild salmon running the gauntlet back upriver, where they spawn, mate and die. Nature in all its gut-wrenchingly visceral glory. It's a winding stream that comes in from the Sea of Okhotsk, into pebbly shallows where several seabirds wait for easy pickings, up into the stream under the Onnebetsu bridge, and upstream past several... More
