senjojiki rock formation really makes you marvel at nature's creation and how our land is affected by the sea. clambering on the rocks are fun, as is watching the fishermen or exploring the rock tidal pools that are formed when the tide recedes. suggestions: taking the bus is an option but i would actually recommend renting a bike from the... Mainly for photo taking, especially for sunrise/ sunset and to see the rocks. It can be very windy and cool there.

We visited the 千疊敷 attraction and climbed on the different layer of rocks. It’s a must-go in Shirahama as of its patterns of rocks made by the long period of waves hitting it in the past. The ‘going down’ and ‘climbing up’ procedure to the bottom rock was a little tiring, but it was worth it due to the beautiful... More

Good time to see is before sunset. If you are lucky with the clear day, the rocks, ocean and sunset view are stun. Orange color from the sunset shine to the rocks create amazing view. If there is no cloud you will see the sun drops into the north pacific ocean.

One of the many stopovers along the coastal drive with free and easy access by car, with lots of parking available. Nice area to stop for a picnic though may get windy and cold. Restrooms are located near the attraction. Children would enjoy playing on the rock formation and be safe from the waves. Nice sunset views.

I know this is a listed Cultural Asset of Japan, but it is also just an interesting rock formation, and it an be found in several spots along the coast near Shirahama. The formations are pretty cool, tough to be honest if it weren't for the sign drawing my attention to them, I'd likely have walked right on by. Not... More

Its mesmerizing. I love it. Though the sun was so hot, the wind from the sea purges the hotness of the sun. The rock formation was amazing, and the view were awesome, just dont carve your name in the stones please, never ever do that. Just enjoy the view, its very relaxing. We went here by bicycle, were just circling around the... More

Layers of sedimentary limestone laid over millions of years exposed for you to walk on. Like a prehistoric landscape by the sea, you half expect to find fossils as you walk. A beautiful natural shore formation.

Took a 15 min walks from our hotel to the site. Able to reach there at 6.am. Weather was good on the day. Air was fresh. Only a few locals fishing. Tourist shops all closed. The scenary was nice and very enjoyable.
