This market has all sorts of fresh seafood and other delicious food to offer. It’s a great experience to see the locals shopping for seafood and enjoy the food there at the same time.

We went on a Saturday at lunchtime and were impressed by the variety of seafood offered. Not quite tsukiji market but lots of fresh seafood and a good place for lunch.

I’ve never been to a cleaner and fresher market than this one! Fresh and live marine products, meats and packed foods abound here. Feeling hungry? There’s more than one fastfood stalls to choose from. I went for the tunagi rice meal and it was good!...More

This market is a must-go for those going to Shirahama!! You can find lots of fresh seafood, sushi, sashimi, fruits and drinks in the wet market. There are also food stalls selling cooked food (e.g. noodles and rice), wine, icecream as well as other products...More

Came in time to see the tuna show. Didn't understand Japanese but could definitely feel the excitement in the air as the fishmonger cut up the tuna. Bought some seafood to eat on the spot. There's an area for customers to eat their purchased items...More

This is one of the bigger market in Wakayama area but I still think that the choices are limited considering the agriculture produces in this region.

We had lunch during our visit to Shirahama. Worth to try their seafood, sashimi and sushi, they all taste very fresh and good. It's easy to reach by the local bus around the city and you can spend an hour for food and walking around...More

The range of what's on offer is simply incredible - certainly in terms of what's from the sea -- however there is also great bounty in fruit and relishes and scores of other items including many flavors of fruit wine...all worth tasting, by the way....More
