Though it is like any other market in Japan, it is still a nice attraction.

We went there for lunch. Excellent value for sea urchin and salmon eggs. Of course, they have delicious tuna of their proximity to the major tuna port. There is also a big... read more

We went there for lunch. Excellent value for sea urchin and salmon eggs. Of course, they have delicious tuna of their proximity to the major tuna port. There is also a big pharmacy store attached to the market where you can find good value household products. It would be a nice stop for souvenirs before heading back home if you... More

We had lunch during our visit to Shirahama. Worth to try their seafood, sashimi and sushi, they all taste very fresh and good. It's easy to reach by the local bus around the city and you can spend an hour for food and walking around the market. Go for a try, worth it!!

The range of what's on offer is simply incredible - certainly in terms of what's from the sea -- however there is also great bounty in fruit and relishes and scores of other items including many flavors of fruit wine...all worth tasting, by the way. Lunch here was one of the freshest sushi/sushimi around and the tempura and other cooked... More

Really excited in the market. It is like a Japanese local market. Most people do not speak English. Great [sea]food. Order to cook fresh seafood (long queue) is excellent. Sashimi and sushi are fresh and yum. The top grade tuna is about 25,000 yen/kg. It is much cheaper than the other popular fish market with lots of tourists. Prices of... More

A nice place for fresh seafood. Price is very reasonable. The food court is crowded with people! Do try the plum wine also. Plum is very famous locally.

Picked some scallops, fish, quid and prawns and grilled by the grilling ladies. Rice and miso soup with the meal. You can sit at the side on the tables that are a makeshift stop. All very delicious and cheap.

Set up more for local than international tourists, so price and quality are still reasonable. Parking is free. You can buy seafood from the market for sashimi and bring to the large canteen which offers rice, miso soup as well as udon and other cooked items. Much better than Kuroshio market next to the marina city which are entirely touristic.

You can eat, buy and try lots of the local food there. You can also buy souvenirs there. Must try the seafood Bbq just outside the market. You can choose fresh seafood in the market and cook (Bbq) at the stoves just located next to the market. They will charge you like 300 yen per person for using the stove.... More
