A visit to Japan will usually involve visits to shrines, natural outdoor beauty and great food. And of course a visit to the onsen is also a must to rejuvenate your body and soul. My visit to Fukuoka, followed by Takachiho gouge and Kurokawa onsen deserved all the ticks if you are looking for a memorable family holiday which won't... More

We visited Kurokawa Onsen in December. Other then the cold weather, we enjoyed walking around visiting various shops and hot springs. We found a small inn that offered onsen egg for 50 yen and free foot bath, which was great in such a cold day.

Kurokawa Onsen is the best thing for our trip. It is such a nice small village. Kurokawa Onsen is only accessible by bus. There are direct bus from Hakata, Kumamoto, Yufuin and Beppu and other places. Onsen Pass is Awesome!! It allows you to enter 3 different Onsen at 1300 yen. Yamamizuki and Kurokawaso is popular, yet beautiful, be prepare... More

This place is a bore unless you are obsessed with spa hoping. It can be easily completed in less than an hour maybe even 30 mins. I mean how many spa can you really go in? Likely your hotel has a spa waiting for you at the end of a tiring day. So you wouldn't want to waste your precious... More

A lovely area with the river and geothermal activities around. The village itself is small so this can be done in half a day. Stroll and wander along the river and check out all the small shops as well as the ryokans. The main street of the village is small but cars do come up along here. It was pessimon... More

Came for a day trip and bought a onsen hopping pass to try three different onsens in an afternoon, which could be quite an interesting experience. One should first go to the visitor centre to buy the pass and get a map to select the three hotels. While there are some shops, there is no really that much to see.... More

If you are planning to have a quiet and peaceful moment, this is the right place. Take your time in a ryokan and took a bath in an onsen..

You feel the zen as soon as you stop the car engine and open the door. The cicadas are deafening along with the rushing of the river that runs through this quaint little onsen town. Love a town where walking around in your yukata is status quo. I would definitely recommend a stopover here for a nite or two depending... More
