Had a great walk on a perfect fine day. There are different terrains along the track you will not get bored. Saw 10 deers on the way what a big bonus. We booked taxi return trips to and fro Ando, costed about 12000 yen in...More

I did this as a full one day hike whilst staying at Anbo. Get an early start; you'd want to be up and on the road by sunrise at the latest. I hired a guide (Jen from Yakushima Life) at 16,000yen. When you consider buses...More

Well worth the effort we were extremely lucky to have mostly fine weather and stunning views which included Tanegashima. The marsh area is reminiscent of the walls of Jerusalem walk in Tasmania. Simply beautiful and atmospheric with swirling mists. We've done a reasonable amount of...More

I did a lot of hiking. But Yakushima mountains give lots of water stream at high elevation. The rocks near the peaks are very impressive.

I went at the beginning of March 2014. I did this over two days, staying in one of the mountain huts overnight. It was still quite cold and snow covered a lot of the path the last 2 hours up to the top. Certainly worth...More

We took one of the small hiking trails from the rainforest up the mountain, it was very nice and a little bit exhausting :)
