Enjoy your trip with the 125 year old steam train trough the beautiful scenery of these wonderful Swiss mountains. After passing the forrest, the graze with cows, you slowly climb up to the Rothorn. On top you have an extraordinary view over more than 100 mountains! Don't forget to visit our restaurant on top which offers you a wide range of typical swiss foods and drinks. Just relax and enjoy your day up on the Rothorn!

This was a very interesting 1 hour train ride (steam driven cog train) up the mountain next to the lake. We used our Berner Oberland 10 day regional pass. As it goes up, there are fantastic views of the lake and mountains and also the...More

This mountain railway is unique in Switzerland as it's all steam-powered, rather than electric. And it's unique in the world for having three completely different generations of steam engines from a century apart, all in simultaneous use. The views are, of course, fantastic, from the...More

Brought kids back here to form memories like I have of it. Breathtaking views. It is expensive, but children under 16 are free. Also free if it is your birthday (take ID with you).

We had a fabulous time on this steam rack railway - the twin of the Snowdon Mountain Railway in the UK, which we've also been on. Like that railway, when we got to the very top, it was pretty cold and in the clouds, however...More

You do not have to be a steam train enthusiast to enjoy this trip. But if you are, you will be thoroughly impressed. The old steam engines puff steadily up the winding rack and pinion track in a way that would impress even the most...More

The overall experience is very good although as always going up is more interesting than going down However at 88 CHF per person the price is simply outrageous even by Swiss standards. Cost more than the flight from London to Geneva. I am writing this...More

Just unbelievable scenery as we ascend/descend from the summit at 2244 metres and to think it only took six months to build in 1892. The visit to the engine shed was a real bonus brilliantly led by expert Mike, an englishman. Really appreciated

I loved this trip - I was so excited having seen photos and I really wasn't disappointed. The journey up through the tree line slowly revealed more and more spectacular views and the last section of the journey where you could see the line ahead...More

This was such a great daytrip for us! We have been on many Swiss mountains and this was one of our favorite experiences. We were traveling with our 14 month old daughter and had a whole train section for ourselves. The train itself is similar...More
