It is not a very large castle, but quite delightful and lovely. It may not be an architectural beauty in European terms, but to us Asians, the castle remains a most enjoyable sight. The place was not crowded on our day of visit. According to...More

A well-maintained property. Gives one a good idea of the lifestyle of the wealthy, especially those who were into hunting (with hounds) and all the pomp and pageantry. The rooms and animal stalls, etc are very well presented with audio and visual aids - exhibits...More

Chateau de Montpoupon is not as impressive as Chenonceau or Amboise. But it is not nearly as crowded and very nice to see.

If you are looking for a beautiful castle you can enjoy almost on your own this is the one for you. While not as grand as other castles it is very beautiful and the forest walk is worth doing if you have the time.

We decided to visit this small chateau because it was near our gite in Loches. We were not disappointed. The chateau while small is beautifully furnished with lots of personal touches .The display of hunting is also special even to a non hunter.Well worth a visit.
