The Caves at Vallorbe (Canton de Vaud) in the Swiss Jura were opened to the public a quarter of a century ago. They afford a spectacular display of the beauty of natural rock, enhanced entirely by natural illumination. For millions of years the limestone layers were eroded by the Orbe, a river which runs underground before bursting from the rocks – seemingly as a natural spring of which the Vallorbe Caves are the faithful guardians. Inside these caves, which are among the most beautiful in Europe, there is a display – the “Fairies’ Treasure” in which more than 250 mineral samples from all over the World are exhibited in four domed rooms hewn from the natural rock.

A bit disappointed, as the site for me is not really well kept and the price paid is far much to high for what it is. 15CHF per person. Some points are good but not breathtaking. I visited a while ago the "grotte di Frasassi"...More

Very nice and cool on a hot summer day. I am always a bit scarred and claustrophobic in caves but I felt very safe and I was impressed by the safety measures with good non slippery path even on wet areas, lightings, hand rails etc....More

The Vallorbe caves remain among the best anywhere in terms of the quality of what can be seen, and how well it is presented and lighted.

This is one of the most beautiful show caves in Switzerland. The location around is also very nice. It's definitely worth a visit.

The grottes de Vallorbe are definitely worth a visit. We spent one and a half hours here. Very well laid out and the lighting is excellent. The Source of the Orbe river is here and the river is truly beautiful.

I've seen quite a few caves, and this one is definitely among the best. Nicely guided and nicely lit. Both the thundering river and end-cathedral are impressive features that make these caves special. The extensive rock collection at the end is beautiful.
