I rode my motorcycle from Porto to visit Foz d’Égua and nearby Piódão. After about three hours of riding (206km), I reached Foz d’Égua. The two bridges are located next to the road, so are easy to reach, with parking available on the side of...More

I did not know this place, until I was researching info about Piódão. You can drive there or hike between Piódão and Foz d'Égua. It can be crowded with locals during the Summer season and during weekends, since it has a nice area for swimming.

We found Foz da Égua a magical little place. Go with confortable clothes and shoes and no reservations about exploring every small piece of terrain. Reachable by car (8km) after Piódão or hiking (4km)

A bit of a strenuous hike for those not used to hiking. The fog was quite dense in the morning so finding your next step may be difficult. Though beautiful and quite scenic.

We chose to hike a loop to Foz d'Egua, taking the path on the northwest side of the valley outbound (about 4 km, not the 3.5 km on the signs) and returning on the shorter, less rocky southeast side (about 2.8 km). A beautiful hike...More

Very nice place to have a swim if you are going the whole way to Piodoa, don't miss it. You can go with car if you don't want to walk in the heat.

If you enjoy walking, getting your feet wet and exploring some really small but picturesque places, this activity might just be a really good fit for you. In Portugal, Piódão is best known for its winter ambiance, relating especially with the Christmas festivities. Nevertheless, it...More
