It’s always a pleasure to visit the municipal museum of Ixelles (‘Musée communal des beaux-arts d'Ixelles’), a rather small museum outside of the centre and away from the trodden path. Unfortunately quite some Tripavisor reviews of this museum erroneously comment on the huge Royal Museums...More

We went a great length (literally) to find this museum, and sadly, even locals that walked around Ixelles didn't know where it was. Maybe we tried too hard, since as for an art museum it looks kinda small, zero tourists around. But if you have...More

This museum seems small at first glance until you start to visit the lower floors. It seems endless. We especially the Magritte part of the museum (part of a combined ticket to both museums). Worth a visit if you're into art.

Went in for a balcony view of the Flower Carpet and ended up enjoying most of the museum - especially the vintage poster collection that was on display. The building has gorgeous interiors and the view across the square is quite lovely too. Great spot...More

This museum holds some of the world's great master works. It is a must if you enjoy art and sculpture. It is in an interesting part of Brussels where there are many antique shops, cafes, gardens, churches and other galleries.

I enjoyed visiting this museum with an excellent sample of Brueghel paintings. Nice place to stay at a rainy day in Brussels.

This museum is just a small community museum, but what a surprisingly interesting and large collection. Spilliaert, Panamarenko, Ensor, Minne, Wouters, Magritte and the list goes on and on. The retrospective of Robert Doisneau came as an unexpected bonus. Some good books in the shop.

We were staying with friends nearby, and learned about the Doisneau show. It runs until February 4, 2018. It was a superb show, with about 150 of his photos, some famous, others not so much. There was a video presentation about Doisneau and his art,...More

Maybe I am spoiled by London museums and galleries being almost all free, but €8 seemed a lot for a small collection, of admittedly interesting and good quality 20th Century art and photography. Free cloak room but no cafe.

This was a surprisingly large gallery with a range of very interesting art. The building is very unassuming from the outside, and somewhat out of the way, but it was well worth the journey.
