Great walk, bad accommodation

A wonderful weekend was spoilt by a bad accommodation experience booking at Homestay Cahaya Sikunir. Took and kept my payment even though homestay was closed.

Sikunir GOLDEN SUNRISE

Mt. Sikunir is sunrise view point where located at sembungan village - no public transport if we want to go to this place ,best time to depart from your homestay if your homestay around dieng plateu is at 03:00 AM , will reach in 20 minute ,passing the dark road without any lamp ,so you must be careful if you ride your own motorbike ,we'll see the light at the end of road and parking park.

we can park our vehicle around the entrance and parking park. Afterward we do trekking up for 45 minute, prepare a warm jacket because the wind will be so cold.

need some improvement

the sunrise is really good, the sky was clear, but the wind too strong. need to improve some facilities like the stairs because some parts still sands so it quite dusty, maybe some lights can be added along the way because it too dark, and also the spot where we wait the sunrise

A Sunrise ...With House Music

The idea of climbing Sikunir Mountain for sunrise sounded like a good idea and this was mostly an experience I would recommend. However, it definitely wouldn't call it a solitary or restful experience. This is because Sikunir Mountain sunrise hikes are now a popular thing to do with Indonesian tourists. You will share the hilltop with at least a couple of hundred of them on any given morning.

If you are looking to people watch, this will turn out fine. If you are hoping to hear House music, this may also work as many people bring speakers along and share their musical selections freely. And the stratovolcano of Gunung Perahu is spectacular enough to make the trip worthwhile in spite of all the ruckus. But you shouldn't expect a quiet, meditative morning communing with nature.
