This site is very similar to Upper Canada Village in Ontario. It gives you the feel of what life was like for the original settlers in Newfoundland. Unfortunately, it is starting to run-down as the government does not invest much in the upkeep. It's a real sin as this is a place, like Upper Canada in Ontario, which can show everyone the origins of Newfoundland and even Canada for that matter. There lives were extremely hard.
If you have read the book or seen the film (titled Random Passage), it is true to the book.
Absolutely amazing and such a sin the Newfoundland government doesn't invest in promoting and upgrading it.

Oh this was so terrific! We had never heard of the TV series but watched it a year later. The buildings seem terrifically authentic in every way, and just picturing life that wild and unpredictable gives you a real sense of how fortunate we are today. Highly recommend this! ( we are a couple around 70). We went in Sept 2019.

After reading RANDOM PASSAGE, it was a delight to see the setting in person. Our tour guide, Dora, made the story come to life. The tea room offered yummy hot soup in this chilly day.

This movie set from Random Passage has recreated a piece of Newfoundland's past with a high degree of historical accuracy. Even if you have not seen Random Passage, it is worth a visit.

Wing Commander landed here 14 years ago and there was nothing but the movie site and the Anglican church. Now there is a beautifully restored school house as a welcome centre and of course Joe’s Bar from ‘The Great Seduction.’
Fourteen years ago one mini series but since then two more movies.
Great spot for photos.
Q Tip: Watch out for kitchen parties at Joe’s.

Thanks to Bernice, Connie and the others for organizing a fantastic ' Kitchen Party'. The venue and setting was fabulous, as were the Toutons and tea during the break. Hopefully this will be the start of man more

We asked a local what there was do do around Trinity and were told about this old TV show location set a few minutes away. I was apprehensive as we knew nothing about the show before we came and they wanted to charge us to go through a set abandoned eight or nine years ago. The guide was a very engaging storyteller however, and soon we were caught up in the characters and story as he showed us where the characters "lived" and the props that were still present to show us what life in a fishing village in the early 1800's was like. It was very interesting from a historical point of view and the level of detail the writers and production crew went to in recreating this very small village. It was great fun.

Our visit to the site was deliberate due to our having seen the series; but not having done so should not hold anyone back. This site is, just by its existence, a glimpse back in time illustrative of just how early settlers lived and worked in Newfoundland. The interpreter who walked through the site was extremely well informed about how people did live and work in those times and was able as well to relate the site to series for which it was the filming site. This is place to visit well worth the time and the modest price.

Bride was our tour guide. She made the tour! Her knowledge of the movie, book, and life of each character came out in her presentation. She also added some good old Newfoundland terms and her own opinion to make us laugh while on the tour!
We had pea soup in the Tea Room afterwords. It was a little watery, but tasty! The dumplings were good!

We spent several hours touring the Random Passage site on our trip to the Trinity area. This is a must see for anyone with an interest in how the pioneer families lived in Newfoundland. The living conditions of the early settlers make quite a contrast to the relative luxury in Trinity! Even if you haven't seen the Random Passage series it is worth a visit. The site is beautiful and tranquil. The tour guide is very entertaining and patient and you can take as much time as you like to view each building.
The tearoom serves excellent treats and sandwiches. This is a very lovely spot.

Yes it’s open until 5:30 and cost is 10.00 for adults. Well worth the visit. Make sure if you go to have lunch at tearoom. The food is amazing and service is awesome. Very inexpensive lunch.
