Ellis Beach was an ideal location for a wedding ceremony. The sandy beach with palm trees along the edge made an idyllic setting for a recent wedding. The wedding was conducted toward the centre part of the beach as the southern section (out of view of the Captain Cook Highway) had the reputation as being a nudist area - not... More

This is on the way to Port Douglas from Cairns . A great stopping point and a very nice beach . There is a bar there where you can enjoy a beverage or two .

Easy to reach from car park. Lovely sand, nice little waves today. The mountains are directly across the highway. The beach goes on for a little way (maybe 1-2km?). Very picturesque

My wife and I set out on a hot, sunny late March, Friday afternoon to visit the beaches north of Cairns, Ellis Beach was as far as we went. Driving north on Captain Cook Highway (44) just past Palm Cove we saw some pull offs to parking on the water side. They come fast so we missed the first two... More

The combination of green forest, golden sand, blue sky and blue sea just makes this place look very beautiful. I like this beach also because it is is underdeveloped and looked very natural and less busy unlike the Palm Cove beaches nearby. We didn't swim there as there was a "No Swimming" sign up so we thought there might be... More

Had heard quite a lot about this beach and saw it on the way to Port Douglas. So stopped on the way back to Cairns. It is a lovely beach framed by palms. So why the average rating? There were pesky, biting flies that made it impossible to lie on the beach or enjoy the picnic tables. The walk on... More

Went to Palm Beach and Trinity Beach and although both lovely was not quite what we were looking for. Lots of eateries, little boutiques and cafes. We wanted somewhere more natural so drove to Ellis Beach. The Cafe there is lovely and quaint and obviously very popular. The beach is beautiful and very natural.

I absolutely love this beach! We were on our way back to Cairns from the Daintree, when we spotted Ellis Beach from the road and decided to stop here for a picnic lunch under the trees. Although the beach is next to the highway, it was a very relaxing stop. The beach was uncrowded, felt safe and we loved jumping... More

This beach north of Cairns and Palm Cove is a beautiful with magnificent sunsetsand views. The caravan park is expensive and hard to get a booking for a powered site, for long stay you need to book two years ahead. The sites are tight and right along side the CaptainCook Highway and therefore very noisy at night. The unpowered sites... More

Totally unspoilt, beautiful sandy beach, have the beach to yourself most days. I couldn't believe that such a beautiful beach could be empty, shame it will probably change in the future.
