I love walking around this park in the forest Marly-le-Roi. Desert du Retz offers some great monuments and has a supposedly excellent golf course.

This is an enjoyable and interesting place, but not open very often. It makes for a nice outing if you are in the vicinity of Chambourcy. However, prior booking is required.

Tours are in French only and last about one and a half hours. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to walk on uneven ground. Register ahead via email and be prepared to pay for tickets with cash. Books and postcards available for purchase.

Only open on jours de patrimoine most interesting park full of follies with an enthusiastic sort of local history society keen to share their knowledge (in French of course) some small musical groups performing in an ad hoc manner on the lawns

I'd like to visit this May but not sure how to get there, and how to get ticket in advance since I live in the US now. Is it possible to stay near there? or better to day trip out of Paris?

Hi Jsara, Provided you have Paris on your schedule I'd recommend staying in town and make it a day trip. Take an Uber or Taxi to desert de Retz, or the RER A to Saint Germain en Laye and then a Taxi, or use your... More
