Nice - even in March. Too bad about the stupid multi-language tourist propaganda information blaring through the rice fields all day to almost 7pm. To access these rice fields you have to park your car in the designated area then pay a local and foreign tourist entrance fee. Then you hike up. If staying overnight make sure you pack a... More

My group of 30 and I trekked up the mountain to visit the rice terraces. What a terrific experience! Gorgeous views and the fog cleared for us to enjoy!

I walked up from Ping'an village and back via 5 Stars and the Moon vantage point. Dragon's backbone stunning and lived up to images I had seen elsewhere. Definitely the most impressive rice terraces I have seen anywhere in the world.

This is one of the 2 famous rice terrace areas in China. We went in winter so the rice is not growing but luckily they still flooded the Ping'an village rice terrace so that is the place to go in the winter. The rice terrace is an amazing sight and definintely worth the 1hour plus drive there from Guilin. They... More

Drove here from Guilin, which was quite a winding road, once we reached the bottom of the hill. Half way up, the car had to stop, so we walked the rest of the way. There were several places to stop and admire the view / take pictures, and, of course, rest! While December is not the best time to go... More

Longee rice terrace is basically rice fields on hills. It has a different view in different time of the year. It is better not to plan thia place in winter as there will be fog and view will not be clear. It is a full day activity to visit this place from Guilin North Station and around 2 hours of... More

We went on a drizzly day and the further we got up the mountain, the foggier it got! (we only had one full day to go). Unfortunately, we did not see much, but the drive was very scenic and it was a nice day overall. (I definitely recommend stopping to see the long hair ladies show on the way. Even... More

Its easy to get to Longji terraces going by bus from Guilin to Dazhai. There is one change, but all the drivers will show you everything as they know where you are going. First you go from Qintán bus station (south-west in Guilin) to Heping (26 Y), then you change the bus (it is waiting) from Heping to Dazhai (30... More

Keep in mind that there are no direct buses from Guilin in the off-season. It took me about 5 hours to get from Guilin train station to my hotel in Ping'an village, where the rice terraces are. This included a transfer between buses in Longsheng, where I was the only foreigner. Since it takes a while to get there, I... More
