Visited this area and sadly a lot of the area is blocked for one reason or another, so in effect we spent about 30 mins here just walking to the areas we were allowed to go to.
Interesting history and the harbour is a bit of an eye sore as the boats that were in there were filthy dirty and looked very run down, not sure whether people live on them
Tgi’s area is ok to go an have a look for 30 mins but that’s about it

This should be an interesting visit to a historic harbour however sadly is under maintenance and isn't fully accessible.

Within the main harbour there are 2 sunken boats that need recovering. The Severn side walls are covered with plastic to stop water ingress and there is heras panel to stop you getting onto the piers and other areas with 1 digger onsite sat stationary. The small circular walk also isn't possible due to the works.

The best part is the cafe however with brilliant soup today and friendly staff. There are toilets with a baby change platform and an information building on the history.

Not sure why all the 5 stars! There’s nothing here, apart from a load of work and everything is fenced off! Just a dog walking mecca.

With a very odd approach road, you come across a really interesting piece of history. Well explained on boards, nice little coffee shop, pity there are so many fences and barriers around at the moment. Well worth a visit.

Don't waste your time visiting Lydney docks although not the prettiest of places in the forest of Dean it always had a certain sense of character. That was until the environment agency decided that this particular canal is a death trap and have decided to fence most of it off you can no longer walk to the ends of the piers and view the incoming tide the best you can hope for is to walk one side of the canal crossover the one bridge they have left remaining and then walk up the other side They were supposed to be making improvements to the docks They have only succeeded in alienating anybody who really wants to enjoy what was once a thriving port on the seven estuary.

On a beautiful June morning we arrived and parked. It wasn’t very busy, but nearly all the parking spaces were full. In the school holidays, I should imagine it becomes Impossible to park. We admired the marina, very picturesque, and learnt about the industrial heritage of the port from various display boards, and a small visitors’s centre. Small , pleasant cafe with hot drinks and a range of food, cakes, ice creams etc. Toilets in the former mortuary, a nice touch ! As we were going on elsewhere, we didn’t spend very long there, but it appeared to be possible to go for some longer walks. The harbour is quite a long way from Lydney town-so unless you are a very keen Walker, make sure you have a bike or car to get you there.

Visited on a bitterly cold sunny Sunday afternoon but enjoyed our walk along the Severn, meeting lots of friendly dogs and their owners. Probably more to do on a warmer day but a very pretty location.
