It is one of ten rathas and is carved out of pink granite. That was the only thing that surprised me after i had visited all other rathas, shore temple and other heritage sites. I would recommend a visit as you can cover all other sites including this within a day and really connect with history of the place. But... More

This is a monolithic rock temple. It is one of ten rathas carved out of pink granite within the group of monuments of the Pallava period.

The Ganesh Ratha is not one of the famous Pancha Rathas and is, in fact, part of the hill monuments of Mahabalipuram. Located near Krishna's Butter Ball and Arjuna's Penance, this is an active temple, which was carved out of a single rock and is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is closed during the afternoons but one can see... More

This is another monolithic temple, containing an idol of Ganesh, with beautifully intricate carvings. The idol is clearly a source of devotion with incense burning and a lovely garland around his neck. It is situated close to the giant rock and in lovingly-tended grounds.

This temple is located near Krishna's butter ball. This is again, a monolithic structure and the only one which is used for the purpose of worship. It houses a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha. We reached in the afternoon and the temple was closed. Nonetheless, you can see the idol from outside and of course, appreciate the wonderful carvings of... More

We had visited this small rock cut temple located in the complex maintained by Archeological Survey of India during our sightseeing in Mahabalipuram. We were informed by our guide that temple was dedicated to Lord Ganesh and has been originally built by Pallava... More
