One of the most remoste border areas, where China coerges with Russia, Kazakstan and Mongolia. The best season to go is between June - September. In the fall, the forest provide a vivid backdrop of colour, an unspoiled dazzlingly beauty rarely found throughout the rest of China. Best is walk to the Guangyu Pavilion, where you can enjoy a bird-eye's... More

If you take time to visit Kanas Lake, you will certainly enjoy seeing the other 3 parts of the river linking the lake: the Moon Bay 月亮灣, Dragon Bay 卧龍灣 and Shen Xin Bay 神仙灣. Kanas Lake is a beautiful lake within the Kanas Nature Reserve in the Altay region of XiJiang and almost at the northern border with Russia. We started from the closest city, Buerjin, which is about 4hrs drive away. The scenery gets progressively more beautiful as we approach the reserve. There are huge grasslands and rugged mountains as we wind our... More

Our wonderful trip to Kanas Lake Geopark began when we booked a 4D/3N package from CYTS in Urumqi. It was a long 12 hour coach ride first to Bu'erqing for an overnight stay. The next morning, we had another 4 hours of travel to get to Kanas Lake Geopark. The scenery along the way was spectacular - in fact, we... More
