There are lots of water activities at this lake and plenty of lodging choices ranging from camp grounds to hotels.
The view of Mt Fuji is simply too gorgeous for words. I won't mind spending the whole summer just lazing there and soaking up the beautiful surroundings and exploring the many little lakes and places.

A very beautiful and picturesque lake. Very different in character from the bustling Lake Kawaguchiko. Perfect if you want a quiet stay, far from the madding crowd.

If you enjoy the countryside with a spectacular view, this is one place you got to visit and take a picture for keepsake! At night, the sky will be full of stars and the place makes it a perfect spot to pitch a tent and stay overnight in.

Not sure if it was because it was autumn but when we were here there was no activities whatsoever. Most of the shops were closed, there was barely anyone around the area, lot of thick fog surrounding the mountains and it was very very quiet. Only could hear the occasional wild life sounds. Make sure you stock up on food or necessities while heading to this area.
Personally we found it kinda creepy as we were there quite late in the evening, hardly any civilization nearby and the surrounding mountains had an eerie feeling to it due to all the thick fog cover. However if you are into those sort of camping out in the woods it would probably be quite an enjoyable experience.
There is also a secluded shrine with large cedar trees nearby this lake near a little village. Quite a lot of abandoned houses in the village.

We were staying at a hotel on the lake. It was December and we were able to walk around the lake alone, enjoying the atmosphere. There were a few canoes and paddle boats that would be used in the summer, but at this time of year you need to occupy yourself.
The view of the mountain is fantastic.
This lake has an untouristy feel about it, and I would recommend it to those who want to be in a more quiet area.
At the edge of the lake there is a hiking path that takes you up to a fantastic viewpoint of Fuji mountain and looking back doen on the lake (allow 2-3 hours).
Not so good as a base in the region unless you have your own transportation. There is a bus that goes from the lake to Kawaguchi station (1030yen one way - get a ticket when getting on, and pay getting off according to what the screen says), though it is infrequent when out of season.

A different yet lovely view of Mt Fuji on a clear blue sky at Lake Shoji from Lake Kawaguchiko. We enjoyed the peacefulness as we strolled along the lake. It is further away from the busy Lake Kawaguchiko and the blue line bus frequency from Kawaguchiko station is very low so there are lesser tourists here. We rented a car near Kawaguchiko station and drove here.

I visited 3 of the 5 lakes in the Fujijawaguchiko area - Kawaguchiko, Motesu and Shoji. View is best from north side of Lake Kawaguchiko but it can get noisy and crowded. Shoji is quiet and tranquil.

Lake Shoji is the smallest of the Fuji five lakes but is definitely worth a visit. From the shore you can see a view of Fuji but also see the edge of the lava forest that grew after the last major eruption!

Along with the other 5 lakes this lake also offers a great view of Mount fuji. There were boating activities available but we went in winter so did not get onto the water.
