Yamanashi had many crystal mines in the past. Even today, much jewelry is produced here using polishing and processing techniques handed down over the generations. Our museum opened in 1975 to showcase Yamanashi's jewelry industry and to teach a wide audience all about gems.

it's small, but very very nice, there's a small shopping room with reasonable prices after the showing room. there're so many types of gems. and some are so big. my mother loved it so much.

The shop is open to all but the museum charges you an entry fee like all other places of attraction here. The layout is nice and interesting. But the gem museum at Pattaya, Thailand is a wonderful experience.

A museum dedicated to the various minerals and precious stones found the Yamanashi area. It's none interactive, and only worth a visit if you like gems or into geology. Otherwise you'd be bored silly.
