Driving along to the waterfall and figured we'd stop to state the locally brewed rum. Arvind was our tour guide, his passion for distilling rum shone through...he walked us through the tour and explained each step in detail...in a lot of detail! In the end we tasted all the flavours, some delish, others very strong. All in all a good... More

Actually I never drink when I was in my homeland, but this is Mauritius therefore I pushed myself to try something new. You pay for the ticket than you could try different flavor of Rums, you could also understand how does the Rum to be produced. I like the friendly people here, and of course I tried few shots of... Rhumerie de Chamarel is bit out of hand, but if you find yourself going to the national park nearby, or going to see the 7 colored earth, stop by. Rhumerie is located in absolutely gorgeous setting below the mountains, the the gardens are absolutely fantastic. The walkhrough has been very interesting, if you are there between Jul and Dec when... More

We have visited a few different distilleries on our travels. This one is set in beautiful gardens. And very photogenic. The distillery only produces rum for a few months out if the year but this does not distract from the visit. You can wander around by yourself or have s guided tour. The tour guides are full of information and... More

Quite good to find out how sugar cane is produced, but be aware this wont be the case until somewhen in June to December when the factory and machinery are processing the cane.Rum tasting good but fairly pricey for what you get.

This is a must do while you are on the island. They take you through the distillery and show you how the rum is processed. The best part is at the end you sample all the Rums that they make. For an extra cost you can sample the XO, VSOP, VS and the single Barrel limited edition

We started off with lunch at the restaurant. It was good, but really pricy. The tour was interesting, but as it's not harvesting season, the machines were off and being cleaned (unfortunately there was also a strong oil smell in the air). Our tour guide was lovely and could answer all our questions. However when it came to the tasting,... More

You pay for the tour and get to try nine types of agricultural rum. Never even knew there was such a thing. Sort of like visiting a high-end winery, lots to find out about.

Appealing guide to take us through the garden and explain the factory and workings. Factory was closed for maintenance as it was not the production season. A friendly presenter at the rum tasting although a little hard to understand as of course English was her second language. Enjoyable lunch in the restaurant. Food not as good as at the tea... More
