We are beginners and enjoyed it
Jan. 2019 • Family
Rented gear at the base station. Took the first ski lift up and entertained ourselves at the area by learning how to ski. Did not manage to go to the higher areas or more difficult slopes, but that is lack of my ski technique, not because it was not possible. Nice ski food at the ski hut up te mountain.

Relativelly easy summit to reach with wonderfull views on Totes Gebirge and Salzkamergut. Parking at Hochberghouse. 6 km to the summit with possible stop in Sepp Huber Hutte. Very nice food and views from Hochberg hause (if you spend 15 Eur, parking is free, ask for a voucher).

A hike with a view
Sep. 2016 • Friends
We had a group of 8 taking on the kasberg hike from Grünau. It was steep from the beginning but a well traversed path for us to follow thanks to it being ski field in winter. The view from the summit was incredible and well worth the effort. Steep but not unmanageable. We had a variety of fitness levels and everyone took it at their own pace to enjoy the work out.

The memories from the hike will stay with us forever.

Summer hiking is unreal

This area is famous as a ski field however there is some great hiking to be had here. Try stay at the Treehouse hostel and hiking your way to the summit from here.

Very nice skiing area for families (with kids).

The Kasberg skiing area is rather compact, which makes is excellent for families with kids. There is a ski school, which excellent and very friendly staff. Because the place is visited by a lot of Dutchies, they speak a little bit of Dutch and the English is fine. There are a couple of restaurants on the slopes. At the bottom where the 8-er lift takes you up there is a reasonable sized restaurant and at the top of the 8-er there is the Jagerspitz, quite a bit pub / restaurant with an excellent sun terrace.
Another "must visit" is the Hochberghaus. Typical Austrian kitchen with schnitzel, sausages, very nice salads, gruner veltliner wine and of course Kaiserschmarren (only on request). Further up the mountain there is the Kasberger Almhutte and simple restaurant, but again with an amazing sun terrace. The last one is the Sepp Huber Hutte, simple food, good coffee.
There are hardly any queues at he lifts and the slopes vary from easy blue to steep and challenging black. The skiing area is highly recommended for first time skiers.

So many runs, so little time!

This is not a bunny slope, and is great for skiers and boarders alike. The terrain is extensive, and I can't recommend it for first-time skiers UNLESS they take a proper class here.
