Hatley Castle, legacy of the Dunsmuir Family, designed by Samuel Maclure for James Dunsmuir. With it's imposing exterior, beautiful gardens, gorgeous interior it is well worth a visit. The castle now serves as the administrative center for Royal Roads University. Located in Colwood, a short trip from downtown Victoria. The grounds front onto Esquimalt lagoon and the Straight of Juan de Fuca... More

A really nice attraction in Victoria. Also, Royal Roads University campus is a beautiful place, not only the castle!

This is a nice local castle which is now part of Royal Roads University and popular for weddings. A nice castle on nice grounds with decent water views.

There was weather alert warning when we went to Haltley CAstle for a visit But it is a nice place to visit. The Castle itself is a nice place to have a picture with. The surrounding areas are a good place to relax.

We went on Monday while classes were on so we did not get to tour the inside of the castle. We toured the English gardens, the museum and the gift store. The castle is in a beautiful setting near the ocean. We looked for the resident peacocks but could not find them.

The first I visited the gardens at Hatley Castle was in May; this October visit was much different. There wasn't the colour (or the crowds), but it was just as worth it at this time of year. The trails are well marked and very easy for all ages and abilities to stroll about. The cost was $5.50 and on a... More

A wonderful place on earth. The Castle tour is great. The grounds are really well designed and make a fabulous walk about. The tour of the gardens with the special plants and trees is well worth it. The history of this place is fascinating. You can sign up for the tour when you get there, Garden and Castle tour is... More

We loved it there as we wanted to see what inspired the X-Men series as the house of Francis Xavier. Too bad we came just one week after the castle visiting tours closed down, as it runs as part of the university. Still spectacular site, beautiful gardens - if in season ask the gardener to give you a taste of... More
