I was at Fort Steel as a young kid about 40 years ago and have fond memories still. My wife and I were there again about 28 years ago and it was an informative historical site then that we really enjoyed and remember well. The heritage town has went through a number of changes and expansion that makes again an... More

It's a herritage town like the rest of them. Nothing unique about this one. I paid for a horse cart ride and they were so busy I didn't get it. Confusing on how you get on one. The train wasn't working when I went and that was disappointing.

What an interesting place to spend a day. I really enjoyed how the employees stayed in character. There was a lot to see and do. We got a big kick out of the school house with a very nice school teacher. There are several places to eat at the fort as well as shops to buy a variety of things.... More

What a great experience it was to visit. My wife and I had our three year old with us and we all enjoyed the visit. There was no cost for our child for the main admission or any of the extras. My wife and I bought a Steele of the Deal pass ($35 for each of us) which was just... More

We brought our parents & kids through on the way back to Montana from Banff. We all had a great time visiting the town. We listened to a storyteller, climbed the tower, rode in a covered wagon pulled by Clydesdales, ate lunch at the International Hotel restaurant and took lots of pictures. Everyone enjoyed seeing how people lived long ago.

Let me start off by saying, see the Heritage Park on a day that is not raining. The park is a wonderful way to experience the history of the Fort Steele area. The staff that are re-enactor and the educators at the different locations do a great job. Most of the town has been rebuilt to what it was back... More

Like many Heritage places the staff are in period dress in the shops and buildings on display. The added touch comes with the cast of characters doing reenactments in the streets of the town. A mix of restored and buildings left to decay with dignity allow you to see the past in two different ways. The steam train and wagons are... More

Having seen films and tv programmes showing frontier life it was great to see it first hand. Take a trip on the wagon pulled by the shire horses, the drivers are very informative. We enjoyed a cup of coffee and cinnamon bun at the bakery. I understand that the buns are made on site. Take your time to slow down... More

I thought this would be on of these places where we would keep busy for an hour, but we found a lot of fun activities for 3 hours. We saw Clydesdales, farm animals and many historical buildings. We learned how to pan for gold and James told us some good stories in the opera house for tailored for adults and... More
