I'm glad we visited the Minster, as it's fascinating place. We called in on our way back from visiting the Workhouse. The volunteers on duty were friendly and knowledgeable. The Chapter Room was a great find. There is a car-park across the road from the entrance that has free parking for two hours, but make sure you still get a... More

Truly magnificent. Many wonderful carvings in stone and more recent sculptures in wood, copper and gold. Beautiful. Very helpful stewards with good knowledge to answer any questions. We spent a couple hours and still did not see everything.

Cathedrals, by definition, are a bold display of Christian faith. Each has something special, possibly unique. Southwell Minster has cathedral status and houses hand-done stone carving which is so delicate and detailed and well-preserved - according to those who know, the finest anywhere in Europe.

As the Cathedral of Nottinghamshire it is a large church but isn't as big as places such as Lincoln, York or Durham. It has many interesting features and has a shop and a cafe handily in a separate but nearby building. Entry is free which is different to many other Cathedrals. Well worth a visit for an hour if you... More

It takes a little planning to get here by public transport (No.100 bus from Nottingham city centre), but it is well worth it. The exterior of the minster is glorious enough, however, the interior is the star of the show. The carvings of leaves, particularly in the Chapter House, make this wonderful church worth a lengthy visit.

This is a fine medieval building.Mainly Norman with other additions over the years. My visit took 2 hours but much more time could easily be spent there as so muchto see.

The coffee was good but the cakes although pricey seemed a bit dry Main meals seemed expensive, compared to the local pubs and cafes that offered some good meals proportionally better value
