Our original plan was to do the coffee tour and spend 2 days on the farm, but it was so good that we decided to prolong it to 1 week. The lodge was close to the nature with a very nice terrace where we usually spent the mornings with a nice cup of coffee. Not even mentioning the owners of... More

This was a very educational tour. The family warmly greeted us and explained their transition into organic coffee.

Gabriel was our tour guide and we started out by sitting down at the tables and listening to him tell the story of his farm, organic farming and coffee. He is a terrific story teller--and tells all sides of organic and non-organic farming. You'll be treated to an education of how coffee is grown (it's not boring at all). You'll... More

The owners personally take you on a tour of their coffee plantation and show the processes used in growing their organic coffee. They also treat you to samples and tastings of the different blends. It was a great afternoon activity.

Well worth the effort to get here! We didn't have a GPS so after several failed attempts we found this fabulous, genuine family owned & operated Organic Coffee Farm. Our time spent with Jeraldo, the patriarch, was one of our favorite times in Costa Rica. He is so kind & proud of his heritage & how his family has embraced... More

Gabrielle taught us so much about coffee. He is fun, interesting and loves his land and coffee plantation. His knowledge of true organic farming is truly amazing. I should know, my father did organic farming in the 40's and 50's. We not only tasted great coffee, but got to walk the land and see the operation. Costa Ricans are truly... More

Wow! I cannot imagine a better coffee tour than this one! I loved the way Gabriel started with "I just want to share with you what I love to do." And that sums it up. He has a passion for farming and sharing it with others. We learned so much in a group with 8 other guests. And it all... More

Totally awesome experience, and the price is honestly a steal. We learned so much! Gabriel and his mother even led us in a blind taste test of light, medium and dark roast coffees to identify our preferences and illustrate the differences in flavors, even bringing us cookies and and hot plantains. The farm itself is beautiful, and Gabriel showed us... More

This is a small family run plantation consisting of about 60% Arabica coffee and 40% other crops mixed in with the coffee for a mutually beneficial biological yield. The plantation is outside the town of Atenas, which is about 1.5 hours from San Jose by car. Small tours are given on-site with a reservation. The proprietors, Gabriel Calderón & Ivette... More
