It was a very interesting place. There was a museum with old machinery and turtles in a pool! You have to be a bit nosey and carry on up some steps as there is a lot more to see. It isn't obvious. You can see...More

I suppose if there was anything happening i.e. Sugar cane production it maybe worth a look but when we visited all you could see were a few machines no explanations. No free samples better ways of spending your time.

What a nice wee place to visit a ten minute walk from the calheta beach hotel when we went they had just started production again so was interesting watching how it all worked we tried the poncha at the end pure Madeira rum wow 2...More

We went during sugar can harvesting season and had the chance to see the crushing and the distillation. Old fashionned way. BUt the products are really good !

do not pay to go on a trip here. just walk in for free off the street.not much to see and you will be looked at by staff as if you have 2 heads and the lady serving the rum and sugar cane has forgotten...More

Visited this place exactly during the one month harvest period end of April. Interesting to watch the men working. Entrance is free and you can buy local products with cane sugar (bolo de Mel, aguardiente, ponco)

Interesting if you happen to go during the production period which is from april for two months in raw. You can see the complete process. And of course you can taste and buy rhum! I recomend the 30year old rhum.
