Newstead Abbey is a stunning place to visit with amazing gardens and views. Would highly recommend, for all ages. Use to play cricket there when I was young so brought back many good memories.

A seriously lovely place. The charm and wealth of its heritage is breathtaking. Shame for the heavy rain. Could not visit the grounds or walk around the garden. Shame for the scaffolding too. It ruins the whole effect. Luckily it is only a temporary problem!

We love to come here just to have a walk round the Japanese Gardens. Beautiful. Waterfalls, little streams and ponds make this an idilic place. It is difficult for people with mobility issues though as due to its historic importance it can’t be changed. To...More

Came for the David Severn exhibition and vintage fair. Exhibition was great but the vintage fair was a rip off at £10. Gardens in very poor condition. Other than the exhibition very disappointing.

We've visited during the day and the gardens are a great place to wander around. This time we saw Macbeth in the open air theatre series around Nottingham. An enthusiastic production by the Three Inch Fools which included musical interludes and songs.

Disappointing to see gardens continue to be neglected, now a shadow of their former glorious self. The once magnificent rose gardens (where are they?), Azalea garden and main herbaceous border are no longer the breathtaking treat which impels a return. Many of the formal beds...More

I have never seen any or anything to say horses have been round as in Horse manure or seen horses.Perhaps because they are public gardens highly unlikely. But it would be worth contacting them to make sure this is the case.

Dog friendly. When you walk into the gardens - dogs must be on a lead. In the grounds near the car park & cricket ground areas outside the gardens dogs can be off the lead. Cafe does not allow dogs inside.

Yes, and a wonderful place yo walk round. There are alot of birds so keeping you dog on a lead is a good idea.
