I visited this place as part of an organised tour. The local staff are passionate about their subject and explain in great detail. There are plenty of fossils lying about and plants your guide can tell you about, such as welwitschia. Some of the big...More

Interesting to see the petrified wood and the welwitschia plants but there wasn't a huge amount of either. Worth doing if you're in the area and have the time, but noon probably wasn't the best time for it!!

We stopped over to the "official" petrified forest on our way to Twyfelfontein... what can we say? This is supposed to be a national monument, they charged us 100NAD/person- same as the other places we visited (Twyfelfontien, White lady, etc). You can't go by yourself...More

Our guide was knowledgeable and the entire site was fascinating. As well as the huge trunks of 280m year old trees, there was petrified bark in abundance. On the way in you were given the dire warning about the penalties for taking even a small...More

We had a really nice young guide who made the tour round very interesting. It was worth it just to chat to her & her life in Namibia. The pieces of petrified tree were quite visible and worth a look.

Take a guided tour and wonder at the size of the petrified trees and see examples of Namibia's national flower that can live for thousands of years

Not very spectacular. Nice colours in the stones but 15 minutes is long enough to be here. we were the only visitors.

It seems that there is not just one petrified forest but many. Because as you drive along the C39 you will see many signs that indicate towards it. Our “guide” led us through the path and told us factoids.
