A hauntingly beautiful garden, with winding paths and steps through dappled woods to the Slaney river which bordered by ancient 500 year old oak trees, and back again. Charming bridges, a lake, covered by water lilies, which was dug out during the famine. A plaintive...More

A lovely time to visit the gardens, but unfortunately due to the rain some parts of the garden were closed. The quality of the plants in the nursery was very high and it was a pity we hadn't more room to take a few more...More

Beautiful, beautiful garden. Around every corner is another delightful view. Walk along by the Slaney river and climb the steps to see the 'temple' and the local mountain ranges. Really stunning gardens.

I discovered Altamont Gardens many years ago when not many people knew of its existence ! Altamont Gardens are off the beaten track, and driving on a very minor track you just don't know where the track will bring you ! On arrival you enter...More

Hi, Pat. What would you like to know about this attraction? I was just looking at the reviews. Altamount Gardens are just beautiful and I go there as often as I can. Next visit will be to see the bluebells ! I don't know how MIss. North could bear the thought of having to depart from Altamount and this World.. I can only imagine Miss North looking out the back window of her home, and looking down on the gardens and lake, or sitting on her balcony listening to the wildlife calling and singing as the Sun was setting. To me it was almost like visiting heaven on earth ! God Bless Miss North for allowing us to share her garden paradise.
