Our family thoroughly enjoyed the sled ride, presentation and puppies. Our guide was very patient and informative as we asked many questions. We were impressed with their knowledge and care of the dogs. I highly recommend a trip to Tagish Lake Kennel when you're in Skagway.

Michelle Phillips, the owner of this kennel was knowledgeable and fun. She fascinated us with her story of running the Iditarod. You can just feel how much her and her staff live these dogs. We enjoyed our “mushing” with them. High recommended.

Gwen our guide for 4 hours was truly amazing. Professional, informative, kind & caring to us and certainly the dogs. Toured thru the wilderness and atop Tagish lake. Camp fire lunch (he was a chef for 17 years) and snack for the dogs. we forgot our hand warmers but he had them.
A 10 min snowmobile ride from Southern Lakes Resort.
A must while in the Yukon.

Our helicopter/glacier dog sledding trip was cancelled due to heavy clouds. We ended up booking this last minute. We were a group of 2 families with 8 teens/young adults. When our kids heard we were going to go on a dog sledding trip without snow, the kids were not too happy and thought it would be terrible. This ended up being the kids favorite excursion. They loved the excited dogs, holding the puppies and even a 4 day old puppy! I'm happy to say that they thoroughly enjoyed being pulled by the dogs in the jeep without snow and unanimously decided it was not lame . It was great listening to Michelle share her racing experience. Looking forward to following her Iditarod run next year. I highly recommend this to all families.

Michelle Phillips has moved her summer camp between Tutshi and Tagish Lake. Great move, one that our tourists love! People enjoy visiting MIchelle, her puppies and her dog sled team at a place built mostly by Yukon women!
I'm there at least three times per week and my guides are there daily. It's always a great experience! Way to go, Michelle, MC and Jane!

This is the real thing, nothing less. Michelle Phillips and her partner Ed Hopkins have just built a new attraction on the Klondike Highway just south of Carcross on Tagish Lake. There are a variety of buildings and dogs which have actually run the Iditarod!!!
Look for the new signs on the road, really nice folks and a great time!

My family very much enjoyed our visit to the Tagish Lake Kennel.
We were one of the very first to arrive on opening and the dogs and puppies were so excited to see us. Spent some time socializing with the puppies and dogs in the very large pen and also enjoyed a 1.5 mile cart ride on property. The dogs were totally in their element and I was glad to speak with our guide about the different varieties of sled dogs - they were not all Alaskan sled dogs, two were (I believe) a Wyoming breed which is slightly smaller and looks different in the face. After our ride we sat through the educational talk that my child loved - learned about the gear, the different races, care of the animals year-round, etc.
One note our guide mentioned, which should have been obvious to me, is that all the proceeds from visitors goes directly toward the care of the dogs. As well, we were told that it's important the dogs socialize with people from a young age since this will better help the kennel determine if they will make a good sled dog based on human interactions and how they get along with the other dogs in the pen.

I absolutely LOVED our visit with Michelle and the Tutshi sled dogs. Aim to get there as early as possible to beat the crowds and maximize your quality time with the cute pups.

Our group of 13 (adults, seniors, kids) stopped here a few weeks ago and had a great time. We hung out with the puppies then went for a "sled ride" in a 4x4 around the short path and learned a bit about dog dynamics. The ladies were accommodating and explained a bit about the musher life and racing. Everyone really enjoyed the visit and I would strongly recommend.

We wanted to experience dog sledding on our winter weekend getaway to the Yukon. Reviews of the places around Whitehorse were mixed, so we headed ~100 km down to Tagish and got the real deal! Tagish Lake Kennel is off the grid (no power, iffy cell service) and not touristy at all; set up just for the sled dogs. Thoroughly enjoyed our full day tour. Both of us drove our own dog sleds. Had lunch by the fire on the trail. MC was a great guide, very patient introduction to mushing, and lots of interesting stories. Note: be prepared for the road conditions. Tagish Lake Kennel is ~10 km south down 10 Mile Road off the Tagish Road between Tagish and Carcross. Google Maps doesn't even bother labelling 10 Mile Road, but there is a sign (that can only be seen coming from the east). And be prepared for the cold, those dogs sure do love to run and the wind chill is serious!

Hi, we will be arriving in Skagway via cruise ship on Sunday, May 24 and are renting a car to drive to the Yukon, I think I saw somewhere that you are not open weekends during May to do the summer dog sledding, is this correct?
Thank you.

Hi, Yes sorry early season is very quiet on the weekends. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Is it Tagish or Tutshi? Or are they the same? Is the location different based on the season? Looking to go next summer during a cruise stop-renting a car and driving on our own. I think my two girls would love it! Do you have to make reservations or is "walk up" okay?

The Kennel is Tagish. I'm guessing that Tutshi is probably some tour operator. We were on a cruise with my family. My sister chartered a bus that took us to the Yukon territory. Tagish was one of the stops that we requested, so they were expecting us. However, while we were there, I noticed that they welcomed people without reservations.

Red, but Michelle wasn't there that day. I was so overwhelmed I forgot the Lady's name that was there, but she had red hair.
