Just attempted to get here, I dont think the road has been maintained since covid. In our rental car we made a valiant attempt but only 20 minutes out the road became impassable for a car with only 6'' of clearance. If you had a SUV, truck or jeep you could defiantly make it, but in a compact car you will defiantly be scarping bottom a lot. I will say that the drive is indeed beautiful.

Marlin did a great job with our tour!! This was the highlight of our trip. The waterfall hike was awesome and we got to swim in the waterfall!! The drive to and from the waterfall is 1 hour 45 minutes but the ride was so worth it. On the way back, we got to stop for the famous shark & bake sandwich and swim at the Maracas Beach. Definitely would recommend water shoes for the hike as it’s through water and rocks.

Just off the road there is a private parking area that is protected and safe. They will provide basic instructions on how to walk to the falls over a trail, through the river and up to the falls. Bring your bathing suit and footwear that can get wet. Bring food to picnic. Good for youngsters and active adults. Not those who do not like walking through water and on narrow paths.

It was a great tour, absolutely beautiful as well, however, be prepared! Water shoes are a must. You will be in water sometimes hip-high. Didn't know that before we went, but we did have appropriate shoes, so it worked out.
The tour requires some semi-strenuous climbing, so be prepared for that as well. Being in reasonable physical shape will work.
Overall, great experience!

This falls is sometimes called Marianne Falls. It is located about 5 miles in on the Blanchiseusse/Arima road. We went with a local guide, so it was up to him to find the spot. We went about 5 miles from Blanchisseuse on an old agricultural road on the eastern side of the Blanchisseuse-Arima Road. There is a chain link fence. On entering the road you can park at the first house. Please pay Pops a small fee (25TT). There is a path that follows the river and at times you must cross the river. Wear shoes that can get wet. On the last leg of the hike, the path riss up a hill. The waterfall is on a tributary of the Marianne River that flows in a westerly direction and joins the main river after the waterfall. It takes about 35 minutes to hike. Enjoy the small, but deep oil at the base of the waterfall.

Conveniently located just a short drive after the Blanchisseuse beach, this hike takes just about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace and has very little difficult terrain. One of the best things is a rock directly under the cascading water that you could climb unto.

The drive to the destination was very long but oh so worth it!
As you arrived, the excitement hits you!!
Entering the forested area, you are excited, but remember to breathe because if you are not fit, you can easily go out of breath. The hike is quite the incline. The highest point has a marker on the tree.
Within the trail, the crisp air can be smelt (and yes felt too!) and calmness befalls you....you won't think such a place existed.
The pools are beyond gorgeous. Undeniably awesome. If you can swim, great. If not walk with life vests / jackets. You can float your way across them.
GREAT EXPERIENCE. WILL MEVER TRADE IT. WILL DEFINITELY GO AGAIN.

This was such an amazing place...the drive is a bit long (drove from Trincity to Avocat Waterfall) but was well worth it! It's about 30 minutes from Maracas Beach. You must walk with your food and drinks as there are no vendors on site. There is parking available at a residence. It's not a long hike to get to the waterfall...it was roughly a 15 minute hike. Make sure and dress to get wet because you have to cross the river at several points (not deep, maybe knee high). The experience was amazing, I am not a nature person but oh my I must say that it was one of the best experience! This place was so peaceful and serene. I will definitely be visiting again with friends and family! :)

Avocat Waterfall is absolutely beautiful. An easy hike along the river, which makes it accessible to even the non hiker, practically anyone. When you get there, you experience a powerful waterfall that cause an updraft of wind which blows your mind. A beautiful pool for swimming, shallow and deep sides. Swimming under the falls is another experience, the powerful water beating down on you, and for the massage of a lifetime, sit on the rocks under the falls, massage the head, the shoulders the back. After taking a good swim at this Waterfall, you are renewed, refreshed, rejuvenated. Absolutely beeuutiful.

One of the best day trips you can take in Trinidad. Just make sure you get there early in the day and get back in time before the sunset. The roads to get there are in very bad condition so be careful getting there.

I usually wear normal running shoes with good grips. Some of my friends did the same other wore hiking shoes. Whatever you decide make sure they have good grips and can stand up when/if you walk through the water. We took the longer route which had a lot of wet leaves. From my understanding if you take the shorter one prepare to walk through lots of water.

Hi, what is the rating in terms of difficulty of this hike and how long is the actual hike?
Written May 17, 2017
I would rate it about level 3 as well. I did the hike upstream- swimming and hiking over the rocks and on land when necessary. Upstream it took about 1/1.5 hr(s). Downstream about the same time or maybe less. Admittedly, stones in my shoe kept me back a bit. The length of time depends on rainfall I would think

First of all, only use certified Guides in any country. In Trinidad you have the TRINIDAD & TOBAGO TOUR GUIDES' ASSOC.. That # is 18687258674 or 18687619984.
The two Guides for Waterfalls are IVAN CHARLES # 18686856206
EMILE SERETTE # 18687402860.
