The donkeys are so cute and well looked after. When visiting make sure you get some of the local wine that raises funds to look after these cute little animals.

A few miles before McGregor on the road from Robertson you'll see the sanctuary entrance on the left. There's a cafe/gift shop/second hand book sales as well as the donkeys. We had a light snack and also purchased a bottle of wine for later. The donkeys are in a couple of enclosures and you can have a guided tour of... More

What wonderful work you do to take care of something that most of us don't even consider, the simple donkey. Absolutely loved spending time them.

Heartening to see abused or neglected donkeys being cared for by knowledgeable and committed people. The staff give avery good background to the work that they do and introduce individual donkeys. The coffee shop offers good light meals and snacks in a peaceful setting. There is no entry charge, and they rely only on donations.

Lovely sanctuary for Donkeys. Great learning about the various donkeys, how they react, what they like. Loved being able to touch/stroke them.

Third visit to greet the beautiful donkeys. Loved the interaction with these gentle animals. Saddened by their stories but so happy for the care they now receive at the sanctuary. Please go visit them. They rely on donations. There is a 2nd hand bookstore and restaurant too.

A very enjoyable experience, meeting the donkeys of Eseltjiesrus. The staff are super friendly and informative. We enjoyed a lovely cup of tea in the sun on the stoep... and my husband was cuddled by the resident cat (funny!).

Guys, I'm besotted with donkeys so this was such a treat for me. You get to "meet" all the donkeys with a guide and have a mini walk through while one of the caregivers tell you more about each of them. After you can pop in for a light lunch. They also do book sales every September to raise money... More
