We arranged a trip to Cano Negro with Canoa Aventura and were absolutely delighted with the experience. Our guide Pierre was superb, extremely knowledgeable, very personable and impressively multi-lingual. Many thanks to the driver who spotted a sloth (!) in the trees on our way to Cano Negro and stopped so we could all see. Cano Negro itself has an... More

Xavier was a great guide on this shared excursion to Cano Negro near Los Chiles. On the boat trip we saw so many different birds, Jesus Christ Lizards, a sloth, howler monkeys and caiman to name just a few. Good lunch on the return trip and an opportunity to chat with others on the trip who were equally interested in... More

Drove ourselves from La Fortuna, which was easy, although last 15 miles along grit road rather than tarmac. In village a really lovely man and his son took just the two of us on their boat (I wish I had his name) for two hours at a cost of $40 total. we hadn't booked and busted turned up (late April).... We rode on a pontoon boat down the river and viewed the wildlife. It was a nice trip, nothing spectacular but OK. There were turtles, birds and some howler monkeys to see. It was fun to see the locals on the bank of the river taking in their Saturday family time, fishing and swimming .

What a show the Capuchin monkeys put on for us! Chasing one another through the trees, chattering, making faces at us, Had a chance to spot many birds, and even the so-called "Jesus Christ" lizards which walk on water. This was a wonderful close-up adventure with amazing creatures.

We took a tour here in March 2017 with La Fortuna Tours. We travelled from La Fortuna, which made for a long bus ride, but the boat tour itself was great. I captured some amazing photographs of the wildlife. Our 8 and 13 year old were quite excited by all the monkeys. When we first arrived, we were treated to... More

My family and I took this tour which started with a long drive from our hotel in Fortuna. Our guide, Rebecca, talked the whole time about life in Costa Rica. It was very interesting. We arrived at the dock for pancakes and drinks. Then came the boat tour. It is definitely geared for an older crowd. We saw quite a... More

I booked this tour from the UK with Desafio company who were the cheapest. We were collected from our hotel as per the ticket in a minibus. because there was only about 15 of us it meant we would have the whole boat on arrival to ourselves. Our journey had us stop to use the facilities at a restaurant where... More

Lots of birds, caimans, calm water on the river. A photo opportunity along a river which is low at this time of the Year.
