SPELL BOUND

It was more than a surprise the pieces they have put together. And a guided tour at that. Dedicated to the task. Extremely useful.

There are already several reviews recommending an excursion to the mountain town of Ste. Croix and indeed the windy (though certainly not scary) serpentine road with gorgeous views of the lake in the distance and the high Alps adds to the experience! In fact my most recent trip to Switzerland reminded me there is more to this country than spectacular... More

Saint Croixe was the source of the music box, the little barrel with pins in that as it turns plays a tune on a fine comb of metal teeth. Today there is only one manufacturer left but in the past there were hundreds employed in this industry within the region. The museum takes you through the history of music boxes,... More

This time (my second visite) I went with friends which initially thought that a music box is only for the old and elderly. However, thanks to the fact that the museum also shows todays production from Reuge this museum really is worthwile the 41 turns up from Yverdon. I wasn't sure if I would be interested in a tour of a music box factory, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was remarkable to see the craftsmanship from over a hundred years ago, still working.

great explanations, excellent factory shop guides will give detailled explanations, visitors will see the past of music boxes but (and this is exceptional) also todays products. The Reuge company in the same village shows in a factory store current pieces at top quality. Not cheap, but worth every dollar.
