- WaddlerYork, United Kingdom12,559 contributionsUnique beachA very attractive beach with the colours of the cliffs contrasting with the sands, blue skies and seas. Its an interesting contrast to the golden cliffs and sea stacks of other areas of the Algarve. It reminded me of some remote beaches I'd been to in Western Australia, but here it has resorts around so is much more easily accessed. On a sunny and windless winter's day it was warm enough for the kids to play in the sea, they enjoyed the waves (which may be too rough for younger kids). You can go strolling for some distance in either distance, and at the western end continue on to Olhos de Agua either by hopping rocks at low tide or on pathways above the beaches and rocks at high tide.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten February 18, 2024
- lesleyx63Stockport, United Kingdom338 contributionsBeautifulAbsolutely beautiful beach. We visited in July and it was never too busy, we loved walking along the waters edge, so peaceful and the cliffs behind the beach are amazing. We loved it so much that we are visiting again in September this year. The best beach we have ever visited.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten March 8, 2024
- Joao GoncalvesLisbon, Portugal4 contributionsBeautiful beach, I hope they don't ruin it...For me, it is one of the best beaches in the world, yes! I've known this beach for years, cliffs in a natural state, clean water, quality tourism, wonderful! I hope they don't ruin it with the current plans to install a desalination plant on this beach! :(Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 19, 2024
- Exiled_riderCalgary, Canada34 contributionsBeautifulBeautiful and relaxing. Good access with wooden stairs and benches along the way but you need to have reasonable mobility and strength. There are reasonable priced loungers with umbrellas for rent at the bottom of the stairs if you don't want to carry yours down.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 4, 2024
- 65nickykBedford, United Kingdom19 contributionsThings to do on Praia da Falésia beachThis is a fabulous beach with soft sand and interesting rock pools at low tide. Plenty of deck chairs and umbrellas for 20€ a day (2 bed and Brolly). There is also a Massage hut near the entrance to the beach (50€ full body) and it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. The O Golfinho restaurant serves snacks and meals, and I’d definitely recommend the strawberry or mango daiquiri… well worth a visit.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 29, 2024
- PaulmathMontenach, France58 contributionsLong walk and very beautiful colors.Starting from Ohlos de Agua the beach is several kilometers long. A little crowded near the access points but very easy to be very quiet by moving away a little. Allows you to make a 15km round trip while walking on the sand. Very beautiful colors thanks to the cliff which dominates the beach. Several accesses by stairs with parking.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024
- Peter BEnfield, United Kingdom4 contributionsGorgeous experienceThe beach is incredible and such friendly people. It wasn't till the second day we noticed the umbrellas to the right for the restaurant and we much preferred there as it was a bit more peaceful. Couldn't ask for more from a beach - wonderful placeVisited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024
- claudio lMelzo, Italy943 contributionsVery long and particularThis beach stretches for km between the village of Vilamoura and the town of Albufeira, is deep, equipped, with several dining options. The main feature is to have behind a long chain of reddish rocks, eroded by the wind, which are called cliffs, which create a show of colors with the sunset light. Beach not very crowded, also suitable for families.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten July 10, 2024
- Josephine G23 contributionsPrettyParking would be limited on a very busy day. A little trek to the actual beach itself. It’s a little narrow but very pretty beach. Deck chairs and umbrellas can be hired. Avoid all together with an onshore storm wind. Otherwise I would definitely return.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten July 10, 2024
- Jan C1 contributionSpectacular Golden BeachThe beach is beautiful, spectacularly golden, very clean and the sea really is crystal clear. We sunbathed without another soul around (it's a really long beach, it goes on for miles) and the kids swam in the sea, bit chilly for me, but I did a paddle. It's close to where we stayed, Aldeia do Golf, and although easy to get on to from the Marina end, there is a quicker route to get directly on to the beach - but the sign is easy to miss, unless you actually stop by the main traffic lights in to Vilamoura and have time to look! It could be much better signposted. Plenty of free parking too and we walked directly on to the boardwalk and beach from the car park.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 27, 2024

This beach has many good things. I'll tell you.
1 - It is huge, so even if there are many people it is easy to find quiet areas.
2 - It has some chiringuito along its extension.
3 - Paid umbrella area on each of the staircases.
4 - It is very flat and long so if you like walking is your beach. You can run perfectly even with sneakers. It is beautiful, different and the water is very crystal clear.
5 - It doesn't have much swell so padel surfing is made comfortable.
Council: If you drive and load..... As was my case, go with the vehicle to the end of the tarmac road. There's a roundabout, you stand there and let them get off with all the barbells. Then you have parking nearby. Use Google Maps and see how close it is. I leave you some pictures to help you. It is almost everything down from the car park to one of the main downhills. We went when there were already a lot of people and still there was a lot of room to park in the place I indicated. In Google Maps it looks like you can park on the road descent but it does not, there are pivots on both sides to avoid this.

Best beach of our holiday so far. Wanted to try somewhere new but not a long drive away from Albufeira. There are a number of sunbeds and parasols for hire but not huge numbers. With most families bringing their own we did it have an issue.
The sea is beautiful with the red cliff backdrop and you can walk out quite a way before having to swim. There are a lot of steps down to the beach so I’d recommend you buy drinks etc at the snack bar at the top when you arrive. They do takeaway and eat in pizza, baguettes, salads for lunch but prepare to queue! Definitely worth a visit 😊

Accessible via a public staircase that goes down behind the Portobay Falesia and 3HB Falesia hotels, this beach lined with ocher cliffs will delight you. The water was cold at the end of July - 19 degrees max but its setting is so unique and magnificent that you will be delighted. Very wide strip of sand, easy for playing with children, a few bars/restaurants - Really great!

We have travelled from the UK far to find beaches like this and here a short flight to Portugal we have the most beautiful, clean beach we have seen in years. It has been awarded Blue Flag recognition for its clean clear water, pollution free with soft golden sands. People were enjoying surfing and locals were fishing off the beach for bass. Access to beach from cliffs is via wooden stairs, disabled access could be an issue. Cafe at the car park area is reasonable and served good coffee with seating in a nice sun spot. A short walk to lovalmrestaurants.

We were very happy when we discovered this beach in the Algarve. Because it is so big, the people are spread out very well and you can relax well. It is also easy to find a parking space and not too far away. The water is also much cleaner, doesn't smell at all, has little algae and is very clear. It also has very nice waves. Sometimes there was a layer of oil in the sea, but that wasn't too disturbing. It is beautiful with the red rocks and very easy to get to. You can also rent loungers and parasols. Highly recommended!

Omg what a beautiful beach! My husband and I truly enjoyed our visit today. Parking was a nightmare but we lucked out and got a great spot. A little tough walking back up if someone has disability or walking issues. The little bar is nice but because of the crowds you will wait at least 30 minutes for a hot order . To be expected due to high volume of tourists .

Beautiful long beach, where you can take long walks. It is also very photogenic. The only disadvantage is the accessibility. You either have to take the stairs, or by a car, but there is not a lot of parking spots. But the beach is clean, not too crowded. You can rent a sun bed, costs 20€ - two sunbeds and an umbrella. I totally recommend this beach.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve.
A beautiful view from above. Behind the beach is a red/orange cliff which makes everything more suggestive.
The ocean creates nice waves, I think it's possible to surf.
I visited this beach in August and it was really very/too crowded, even finding parking wasn't easy at all.

It's a gorgeous beach, but not easily accessible to the disabled.
Miles of gorgeous sand and fewer people than the neighbouring main Vilamoura beach. Gorgeous restaurant, if a bit pricey on the beach. We stayed on a nearby site, Aldeia do Golf, so we walked and when we left we ended up eating at a gorgeous little cafe (and I am annoyed I can't remember the name!) which was about five minutes walk from the beach. We had charred sardines which were just perfect.

Beautiful beach at the foot of red earth cliffs. The beach is long but not very wide so to find space you have to walk a bit like parking. It is better to park in the designated parking lot (600m from the beach) rather than trying to get as close as possible in the small street that goes down.

Is this a good honeymoon destination for young adults, are there any fun activities in the area?
Written December 3, 2024
