Francois has been doing the tour for 20 years, is Seychellois and grew up on the island. He speaks German, is very funny and shows you places that not everyone knows. It is worth it in any case.

Having been informed this attraction was not to be missed, we took a taxi who waited for us at no extra cost (£20 round trip). The entrance fee was expensive £30 for two. There was a guide who was waiting for tourists, and she was also expensive, although we did bargain a little and she reduced her price. Don't bother with a guide, because all she did was walk very slowly explaining the trees and foliage, arriving at a stand with some coco de mer examples to pick up, and all the information she gave us was written there anyway. I wondered why she walked so slowly through the forest; the reason was that very soon after the stand, she left us to wander through the forest. She had said we wouldn't see the black parrot or blue pigeon without her, but we didn't see them with her either. We were really annoyed. We walked for 15 minutes more and got back to the entrance. Total cost about £80. Not worth it, but if you do go bring mosquito spray.

recommend to take the guy since otherwise it would be only a walk in tbe park and important information about the fauna and flora of the Seychelles and especially Praslin and its endemic Coco de Mer would be missed

A nice little hike in the marvelous garden of Eden. Here you can see the famous coco de mer plant and the Black parrot.

Lovely walk through the nature reserve and was pleasantly surprised to see newly sprouting Coco trees from fallen nuts... be prepared with fluids though as it’s obviously humid and warm and there are no drinks facilities on site. Overall a really relaxing and educational experience.

Vallée de Mai is a nice forest to go hiking in. However, the tour guides cost an additional 50 EUR for one hour (entry is about 350 SCR). The tour was ok, however we learned more about the Coco de Mer at Fond Ferdinand. We did see the rare endemic black parrot thanks to the guide though, but overall it wasn’t worth the money. I‘d recommend Fond Ferdinand over Vallée de Mai.
