The chateau dominates the village of Ansouis as it has since the middle ages when the original fortress was built. This still exists, largely unchanged within the "stately home" that was added in the 17th century and which connects to it. My wife and I...More

Ansouis is off the tourist grid as we encountered no one on a recent visit in Aug, even though the other towns in Provence we visited the same day were very crowded. This turned out to be quite a discovery as its one of those...More

Wonderful to be taken around by the owners. The Chateau is being renovated with passion and taste. Lovingly restored by Madam who understand antiques - great feel to the place. Will go again.

Amazing renovation of an ancient military castle from the middle ages. Visit with a perfectly knowledgeale lady who bought the castle with her husband in 2008. Remarkable work of love.

Beautiful place but everything was closed. We walked around the village a bit. It is pretty but nothing was open. Couldn't even get a cup of coffee. Best to check if the place is open before you go there.
