A bus runs directly from the bus station to the large Botanical Gardens. It is a very well laid out garden ,with many varieties of trees, palm trees, and bamboos; including well planted avenues of trees. There is a good amount of shade, with gentle slopes, and...More

Expensive ($10usd per person). You can see a lot of these trees and plants in other countries. Maybe we came here at the end of the day and we were tired/jaded but we found it to be a waste of money. It's mostly local couples...More

Wandered through well maintained gardens with interesting areas of varying specimens of plants/trees. The orchid house was very lovely. Was surprised and very happy to view the large numbers of fruit bats visible in the trees around the park. Plenty of areas for children to...More

Quite a vast expanse of ferns, trees and shrubs. Suggest you get a map of the grounds. The orchard house is a standout. Quite a hefty entrance for foreign people though, and the cafe meal was very so-so.

Start the day at this beautiful site. Walk casually seeing the flowers and trees, listening to the chirping birds. You can take shelter under the trees if it's too sunny. You can have a snack or a cool drink if your visit is longer than...More

Botanical gardens is a hidden gem in Kandy. We went there with kids, who highly enjoyed looking at and learning about the different plants. Double coconut, bamboos and Cycads were their favorites. We underestimated the area of the park and didn't hire a golf cart,...More

Beautiful and impressive botanical gardens near Kandy. There were some enclosed rooms housing orchids and some other plants, but the large majority of the gardens was an outdoor park with open fields, some ponds, and many walking paths. I saw some families and couples picnicking...More

You could spend a day here if you like plants and flowers. Otherwise a half day is nice to get a good look around. The Golf cart is good to hire for an hour as you get to see the whole area.
