Last visited 15 years ago and a lot has changed! Mainly it's become packed with tatty tourist shops, overpriced cafes and weird sculptures. £3.50 for parking! Honestly wouldn't have stopped if we didn't need the toilet.
Would definitely not recommend, far nicer places to visit that aren't such a tourist trap!

John O'Groats.....more like John O'Scroats. Totally underwhelming. Just a money making scheme that shows how stupid society has become.

It’s quite a thrill visiting the top of the land. We only paid a flying visit but John O’Groats has plenty of places to stay an excellent visitors centre, gift shop and campsite. And, of course, everyone wants a photo at the famous John O’Groats signpost!

This was one of the excursions organised by Shearings. There were lots of people having their photo against the signpost pointing to Landsend etc. There are cafe's and gift shops. There isn't a lot to do there, but it was nice to see.

We decided to take the long journey from Inverness to John O'Groats the road up to Wick has beautiful scenery and lovely beaches to stop off at and stretch your legs. However we planned to stop at Wick for lunch and was very disappointed it's run down and no where we could see nice for a family lunch in the end we decided to get some sandwiches and crisps from Tesco's and eat in the car!

The scenery after Wick also changes, John OGroates itself was a disappointment, we expected an attraction similar to Lands End but it was nothing like. The staff at the gift shop were not friendly either and looked bored.
Took a quick photo at the post and headed off to Dunnets head and Dunnets Bay which are lovely.

The ‘commercial home’ of the Mainland Bookend it is neither the most northerly nor the furthest point from Lands’ end but will continue to be the tourist mecca and certainly meets the End to Enders requirement. The good thing is that the parking here is free and plentiful (although may get stretched in high season). It is well served with refreshments and gift/craft/tat opportunities. Unlike Lands End there is no longer a professional photographer – I was hoping to get a mirror of the one I got there last year – so go with a friend or find someone who is also seeking a souvenir photo and will do an exchange. It really should have a professional on site in my view.
