- Dawn CClinton Township, Michigan4 contributionsNice beachWhen there are cruise ships in port this smaller beach is rather crowded. So, if you are coming here from an on island resort, I would suggest checking when there are no ships in port and go that day. Big Tony's Beach Hut, has a delicious Mahi Burger, that makes going to this beach worthwhile even if you are afraid of the water. The snorkeling at this beach was great. We saw a couple of southern stingrays as well as a multitude of various fish. It did not take long once we started snorkeling before we saw sealife. The sand was nice with very few rocks.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten December 13, 2022
- RiehlTimeSaint Paul, Minnesota17 contributionsGreat snorkeling, but look out for swimmer's itchWe visited Coki Beach for the day on Dec. 10, 2022. The view is beautiful, and the water was much calmer than Magen's Bay, which we'd been to the day before. This year there was a huge seaweed bloom, so there was a ton of seaweed all over the beach as well as in the water. The snorkeling was great. I saw many colorful fish, including one about 3 feet long, and the snorkeling is best along the sides of the bay near the rocks. The reason this review isn't higher is because later in the day, just a few hours after our visit, I started getting a rash, which I think was either swimmer's itch or "sea bather's eruption" (which is actually caused by thimble jellyfish). I didn't feel any stings in the water, which I've learned is typical for thimble jellyfish (which aren't visible), but my legs and arms were covered in a horribly itchy and ugly red rash by the following day. It's now 6 days later, and I still have the itchy rash all over. Rash aside, there are nice beach chairs for $10 rental, servers that will take drink and food orders, and I highly recommend getting food from Catch of the Day. I had the butterfly lobster tail ($30) with fries and lobster macaroni, and it was delicious. Portions are huge, so it's good to share. There are kiosks that sell beach towels and other necessities/souvenirs. The people walking the beach and selling massages (and weed and other items) are present, but they aren't too persistent. Coki Beach is also just a 5 minute easy walk from Margaritaville for anyone staying there. It's worth a visit, but if you swim (at least around the time I visited), be sure to rinse off and dry yourself off vigorously when you leave the water to help avoid this rash!Visited December 2022Written December 16, 2022
- Brit5 contributionsNice BeachCoki Beach is nice! Great to take pictures. The water is beautiful, clear, and calm! Bought fish food to feed the fish in the beach. Parking was a little difficult. Had an option to pay 5 dollars to park in a lot. But I seen someone was blocked in and said they spent all afternoon trying to find the owners of the car to unblock them. Plenty of places to eat along the beach. There was a booth to rent towels and chairs from and whatever you may have forgotten. I seen a bunch of people snorkeling here as well. Overall nice beach but small and can get crowed.Visited December 2022Written December 27, 2022
- drMaryMacNew York City, New York8 contributionsBest beach of all we tried!!This ended up being the best beach of all we tried!! We went to Linquist and Magens but found this to be the best. We saw fish and coral. The staff were friendly at the restaurants and the staff with chairs and umbrella was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this beach. We had the best day there. Trick is to get there early like 10 am. It gets very busy and full after 12 pm. Plant yourself right in front of the water. Best day ever!!Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten December 30, 2022
- marylee48Middletown, Connecticut108 contributionsCoki, for a beach with a native feel. This is not a high-class resort beach. It is a funky fun very energetic beach great for snorkeling. Order a catch of the day from the staff walking up and down the beach to serve you. 20.00 for a whole very freshly caught I think yellow tail. with rice salad and veggies. Hubby and I split it . There is always music playing. It can get very crowded on cruise ship days.Visited January 2023Written January 19, 2023
- Bryan S9 contributionsCoki a Great Fun BeachThe homemade drinks that you get to finish off with as much rum as you want. The beach chairs were inexpensive and the food was great. This is a native FUN Beach so if you are looking for a quiet, stuffy, NY/NJ type crowd or beach this is not for you.Visited January 2023Written January 28, 2023
- sklnurse2160 contributionsBest Beach Day So Far!We walked here from our resort, and felt completely comfortable. We've been to the island numerous times, so the things people are complaining about may just be something they are not used to? This was our favorite beach day so far, with very little sea grass, superb snorkeling (you feel like you're in an aquarium) to the right near rocks. All the staff were friendly and kind, not pushy at all. Food and drink vendors abound. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas to rent. We will definitely return!Visited February 2023Written February 4, 2023
- Greg BDenton, Texas10 contributionsCheap awesome snorkeling spotOne of the cheaper things you can find to do on St. Thomas, and it is one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. We paid to snorkel in. This was one of the stops that the boat would take us to if we had an already been. Water is crystal, clear, food, drinks, and everything else sold at the beach.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten February 7, 2023
- scottHudson, Wisconsin1 contributionBeautiful water but crowded and dirty beachWater was beautiful and staff was friendly but beach was overcrowded and very dirty. We were packed in like sardines and Trash cans were overflowing with yesterdays trash and flies. Definitely a lot of potential and I’m not sure about the other options but we will definitely try the others before going back.Visited March 2023Travelled with familyWritten March 17, 2023
- Michael RRogers, Arkansas1 contributionBeautiful beach and waters. Crowded, but friendly. My family visited this beach during spring break 2023; 4 adults and 3 kids, ages 8,7,&4. The beach is beautiful and the water is very clear, which makes for great snorkeling. Its a small beach so it gets very crowded, but all the people we met were very friendly. Two functional lounge chairs and an umbrella cost $25, which I thought was reasonable. A bucket of beer (6) cost $20 and a rum runner cost $8; it was strong. If you're looking for something a little more "chill," then ask around, and you will find it. Transportation from the cruise ship was $14 per person, including children, using "Best" shuttles. However, I spoke with another "Best" shuttle operator and he only charged $12 per person, children ride free, going back to the cruise ship. If possible, negotiate the best price possible adults and children. I would visit again, but would use a different method of transportation.Visited March 2023Written April 1, 2023

If you want clear water and a place to sit in the sun this is a great place. Do yourself a favor and rent a chair and umbrella, then sit back and relax with drink in hand. The locals will come around and be your waitstaff for drinks.

There are many beaches and Coki was the best. You can rent chairs. Drink and the water is amazing. The chair rentals were cheaper than the other beaches.

Awesome beach with a great vibe. Plenty of food and drink options. Plenty of opportunities to buy extras as well. Located in a very, very economically challenged area, however, that has a very strong marine odor. Worth the trip, however.

This seemed like a beach that locals favorite and for a good reason. The water is nice and lots of fish are swimming around since it’s close to the coral world ocean park. You can rent goggles and snorkels here as well to enjoy this beach to the fullest.

This is a beautiful beach with white sands and clear water. This is the perfect place for snorkelling, there is a bit of coral on the right hand side of the beach with lots of colourful fish. You can rent a snorkel on the beach for $5 for the entire day. It is a small beach though so gets busy quick so try to make sure you get there early.

Smaller beach but sand is white and the water is very clear. Nice place. A bit much on the rocks when we went coming in from the ocean in parts but that was probably timing. Can get very crowded and parking is quite limited so consider a taxi here and travel light with the space being limited when busy.
Overall a nice place to visit for a couple of hours. Just not an all day type of beach. Better choices for that, in particular on St. John but for a short beach trip, works very well.

Awesome snorkeling, tons of beautiful fish, waiter brings the drinks and food right to you, great music playing...everything you could want in a super fun beach day!
If you're going to buy food and drinks from the bars and restaurant, bring cash. The restaurant is cash only.

Smaller beach. Crystal clear water. Extremely shady local hang out. Was told NOT to be around when the sun goes down. Plenty of other beaches to visit.

Feeding the fish was an awesome experience but the area surrounding the beach made us very uncomfortable.

It was definitely a different experience from the other beaches but it was something I am glad I experienced. It was definitely a local beach with lots of music and food (and pot). It was a little overwhelming when arriving with the locals offering there merchandise however, once you settle in it was very enjoyable. The beach is a little rocky when entering but certainly not bad. It’s not my favorite beach but I will definitely return on every visit.

We'll be staying in St. Thomas for 2 weeks in January. Does it make more sense to rent a vehicle or taxi around?

Are there restaurants and bars at coki beach?
Josie Y

Yes, they serve things like pizza, hamburgers, chicken and alcohol + beer.
They also rent chairs and umbrella's, we paid $20.00 usd for 2 lounge chairs and 1 umbrella. It's fun there, they have the music going and it gets really crowded if the cruise ships come in. So try and go on a day when the ships aren't docking. The front desk should be able to tell you when they come in.

I was largely un impressed with the beaches on St. Thomas but St. John was incredible. We took a ferry over there that took like 10 minutes or something and then rented a jeep. It was the best day we had on our trip for sure. Probably went to 5 or 6 beaches that were all amazing and most had very few people. The hiking on St. John was also amazing.

How steep and narrow is the road to get to the beach? And how long of a drive from the Port?

It took about 25 mins by bus and the road was windy but a main road so wide enough to pass cars without being too scary.
If on a cruise, can you take a taxi to this beach?
