Greek remains and fascinating burial chambers....much more interesting and accessible than Siracusa. Wonderful location in the hills. A photocopied A4 sheet available only in French or Italian, and we were asked to bring it back! Don't miss it.

We decided to visit the site at Akrai not for the Greek theater but for the “Santoni” the ancient carvings of goddesses. First we found it with some difficulty and thought the 6 Euro fee a bit high. They handed us a tour book when...More

Fairly well preserved Greek theatre at the top end of town. Also remains of the ancient quarry and settlement with tombs and houses chiselled out of the rock. Have to say, they don't make the best of what could be a great attraction, much is...More

During summer 2018 site is covered by wooden boards, actually the place is used for some theater or music production. It makes no sense to go there. People from Siracusa are simply crazy to do this.

The Akrai Theater is amazing. It is immersed in silence and evokes ancient atmospheres. It is not great if compared to the splendid Greek Theater of nearby Syracuse but it deserves to be visited

You can 20mins from Ortigia and you will be there. GReat teatar or Teatro greco is worth of seeing. It is made in stone and because of that it is in very good condition. You can also see Roman teatar and dionisius ear (cave). I...More

Nice views as you walk up. I’m sure this place is fascinating but other than the amphitheater we didn’t have a clue what we are looking at as there were no signs or information boards, other than a room containing some literature in Italian. Very...More

We were disappointed in this site. We were provided with neither map or information board so we had no idea what we were looking at. Very overgrown in parts

I understood barely 10 words of Fenicie, but it was a performance of an Ancient Greek play in a venue made for it. The summery was enough for me to follow the story. Fantastic.
